  • Patent number: 9400816
Abstract: A multiversioned position-space indexing system is disclosed. The system includes data structures for maintaining a multiversioned position space including a multi-versioned filter merge list which represents many versions of a changing position space in a very compact form and a position shift map which describes how to translate stored positions in many different log-structured merge tree layers into logical positions at a particular timestamp. Each log-structured merge tree layer can be divided into two sublayers: a final sublayer and a correction sublayer. The final sublayer contains index entries added after the layer's start timestamp and remain live as of the layer's final timestamp as well as deletion makers for index entries that were inserted before the layer's start timestamp, but deleted before the layer's final timestamp. The correction layer contains index entries that were both created and deleted between the start and end timestamps of the layer.

  • Patent number: 8866687
Abstract: A modular feed network is provided with a segment base provided with a feed aperture, a corner cavity at each corner and a tap cavity at a mid-section of each of two opposite sides. A segment top is provided with a plurality of output ports. The segment top is dimensioned to seat upon the segment base to form a segment pair. the segment base provided with a plurality of waveguides between cavities of the segment base. The modular feed network is configurable via a range of feed, bypass and/or power divider taps seated in the apertures and/or cavities to form a waveguide network of varied numbers of output ports by routing across one or more of the segment tops. For example, the modular feed network may comprise 1, 4 or 16 of the segment bases retained side to side.

  • Patent number: 8700563
Abstract: In an embodiment, a plurality of transactions for accessing a database may be acquired. The database may be associated with a plurality of locks. The plurality of transactions may include a first transaction, a second transaction, and a third transaction. A logical serialization sequence for executing the transactions may be identified. The logical serialization sequence may indicate that (1) the first transaction is to be executed before the second transaction based on all locks that are required by the first transaction being available; (2) the second transaction is to be executed after the first transaction has completed execution based on the second transaction requiring a lock that is required by the first transaction; and (3) the third transaction is to be executed before or during execution of the first transaction based on all locks required by the third transaction being different than the locks required by the first transaction.

  • Patent number: 4968151
Abstract: The temperature of fluid (gas or liquid) flowing in a duct 10a having axis 21 is measured using a collar 12 having an inner face 17 embracing the tube and having two axial bores 16, 18 at different lateral distances from the duct axis which receive temperature sensors 8, 9 connected to recording and monitoring devices 20, 22. A heater 14 is provided on the outside of the collar and when there is no lateral heat flux in the collar and the wall of the duct the temperature of the fluid equals the temperature of the sensors.

  • Patent number: 4507603
Abstract: A plumb bob (11) having an upwardly extending tube (12) is located in a support tube (10) having grooves (20) in which are laid sheathed cables (22). The support tube (10) has windows (21) across groups of which pass the bare conductor elements (23) of the cables (22). The upwardly extending tube (12) forms an energizing electrode and the bare conductor elements (23) form two pairs of orthogonally disposed electrodes (30) capacitatively related to the electrode formed by the upwardly extending tube (12). Horizontal movement of the support (10), and hence any structure in which it is located, creates a capacitative charge between the electrodes which allows the movement to be measured in magnitude and direction. The apparatus has one application to the measurement of horizontal movement in a liquid metal cooled nuclear reactor.

  • Patent number: 4488269
Abstract: A lattice array of metal sheathed mineral insulated cables each cable having a coaxial conductor comprising alternate lengths of dissimilar thermo-electric material to provide thermo-electric junctions. The junctions are in two groups of opposite polarity and those of one group are disposed at the intersections of the cables while those of the other are disposed between intersections. Localized temperature increases create differentials between groups of sensors and can be located by the co-ordinates of the lattice array.

  • Patent number: 3984525
Abstract: Production of phosphoric acid by the wet process and by-product calcium sulphate hemihydrate. Sulphuric acid reacts with phosphate rock in such conditions that gypsum is precipitated, the resulting slurry is transferred to a second vessel in which the conditions are such that the gypsum recrystallises to calcium sulphate hemihydrate. Calcium sulphate hemihydrate so produced may be converted to cement and sulphuric acid by a process analogous to the anhydrite process for production of sulphuric acid. The phosphoric acid produced may be desulphated in a process integrated with the phosphoric production.
