Publication number: 20240157094Abstract: The invention relates to a wire device (100), in particular a wire device for insertion in a body lumen, comprising a stiffening portion with a pressure tube (2), a stiffening layer (3) and an outer tube (4). The stiffening layer is arranged concentrically about the pressure tube, and the outer tube is arranged concentrically outside of the stiffening layer. The outer tube is radially stiff and the stiffening layer is radially movable. Pressure can be built up inside the pressure tube such that the stiffening layer can be forced against the outer tube from the inside and the stiffening portion can be reversibly stiffened under pressure. The pressure in the pressure tube can in particular be reduced so that the stiffening portion becomes flexible again.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2022Publication date: May 16, 2024Applicant: SoftRail Medical AGInventors: Alexander VON WEYMARN, Thomas GERIG

Patent number: 9931191Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1), especially a tube or a catheter, for at least partially introducing into a body passage, said device comprising a long outer envelope body (10), a long inner body (11) that is partially peripherally surrounded by the envelope body (10), and a device (12) by which means the possibility of a relative movement between the envelope body (10) and the inner body (11) is enabled or impeded in a targeted, controllable manner. According to the invention, the control device (12) is formed by the arrangement and embodiment of the envelope body (10) and the inner body (11) and comprises no additional mechanical means in the annular intermediate region (13) between said two bodies (10, 11). Preferably, the control device is embodied in such a way that it acts on the friction between the envelope body and the inner body (10, 11).Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2012Date of Patent: April 3, 2018Inventor: Alexander Von Weymarn-Schärli

Patent number: 8562517Abstract: The invention relates to a medico-technical device for at least partially introducing into a body passage. Said device comprises an elongate, tubular, flexible internal body (2), an elongate exterior enveloping body (3) which surrounds, at least partially, said internal body (2) on the periphery thereof, and a device (4) for transferring the device (1) from a flexible state to a rigid state and vice-versa. The invention is characterized in that the internal body (2), which is in the form of a double tube (5), comprises an inner tube (6) which forms an inner wall (8) of the internal body (2) and an external tube (7) which forms an external wall (9) of the internal body (2), said external tube (7) surrounding the inner tube (6) in a concentric manner on the periphery thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2006Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Inventor: Alexander Von Weymarn-Schärli

Patent number: 8523786Abstract: The invention relates to a guide device (1), in particular for positioning catheters in a body duct. The guide device (1) has an extended first thread (2) and at least one extended second thread (3) made from wire, which runs close to the first thread (2). According to the invention, the guide device (1) has a device (8), provided for one of the threads (2, 3) by means of which it is possible to actively control a relative movement between the threads (2, 3) or at least make the same difficult. The control device (8) is for example embodied such that the first thread (2), prepared from a flexible material, exerts a pressure, preferably acting a radial direction, on the several second threads, or that magnetic fields (4) of differing polarities along the first thread (2), prepared from a flexible material and along the second thread (3), may be generated for the selective introduction of an opposing attraction of the threads (2, 3) for reinforcing the guide device (1).Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2010Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Inventor: Alexander Von Weymarn-Scharli

Patent number: 7736323Abstract: A guide device for guiding a therapy catheter in a body duct has a flexible sleeve that is dimensioned to be inserted into the body duct. A first elongate body and one or more second elongate bodies are disposed inside the sleeve in side-by-side relation and extend lengthwise along the sleeve. Magnetic attraction and repulsion forces are selectively created between the first body and the one or more second bodies to vary the stiffness of the guide device. In an alternative arrangement, the first elongate body is a stretchable hollow body and plural second elongate bodies are disposed inside the sleeve around the outer circumference of the first body, the first and second bodies being movable relative to one another to impart flexibility to the guide device. The first body is stretched radially outwardly by introducing pressurized fluid inside the first hollow body to radially press the second bodies against the inner wall of the sleeve to impart stiffness to the guide device.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2003Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Inventor: Alexander Von Weymarn-Scharli
