  • Patent number: 7406796
Abstract: A fishing device that can act in one mode as either a diver or side diver, and in a second mode as a side sub-surface planer. The device includes a top plate, a curved bottom plate joined at their leading and trailing edges. Side plates are attached to the right and left sides of the top and bottom plates to thereby form a watertight compartment. A keel member is mounted on the curved bottom plate in a manner adapted to allow the keel member to be adjusted and held at any position between substantial abutment with the bottom edge of the right side plate and substantial abutment with the bottom edge of the left side plate. A keel weight is attached to the keel member. To cause the device to act in its second mode, a planer mode arm is removably attached to one of the side plates.

  • Patent number: 4785570
Abstract: An aid for attachment to a fish line to facilitate casting a lightweight lure or bait a substantial distance. The aid includes a body member having a slot connection to a disposable weight for separation when submerged under the action of a buoyant body on the aid. The body member has structure facilitating use either as a disposable unit or a non-disposable unit, depending upon the desire of the fisherman.

  • Patent number: 4745702
Abstract: A basic unit is capable of use by itself as a depth control device and has attachments capable of converting it to a side planer or to a side diver. The basic unit has an association of angled surfaces thereon and side fins which provides efficient operation with minimum wobble or drag on the fishing pole. A line stop can be used with the device to hold it in place on a line but to release the device when a fish takes the hook.

  • Patent number: 4646463
Abstract: A body member has a first passageway extending transversely thereof adjacent the forward end and opening through the side surfaces of the body member. A second passageway opens in from the front and communicates with the first passageway at a point intermediate the sides of the body member. A flap valve is provided on each side surface and is hinged at its forward end relative to the side openings to allow only outward flow of water from the transverse passageway through the sides. A ball is freely movable in the transverse passageway and is associated with its flap valves for controlling outward flow of water through one or the other of the flap valves depending upon the position of the ball resulting from gravitational or side thrust forces acting on the body member. The movement of the ball relative to the valves causes unbalanced water pressure discharging through one or the other of the side openings to cause the body member to change directions and swim in a darting pattern similar to a minnow.

  • Patent number: 4638587
Abstract: An aid for temporary attachment of a fish line to facilitate casting a lightweight lure or bait some distance to a desired location. An elongate body member has an arm at one end for engagement with a fishing line. A disposable weight is carried by the casting aid to provide desired momentum to a cast line. A buoyant body on the aid is acted upon by water displacement and/or by submersion to rotate the arm of the aid out of line engagement for release of the aid. The buoyant body may be of rounded shape for aerodynamic purposes. The buoyant body may be formed having an airfoil shape to assure positive engagement of the aid with the lure or bait during the cast.
