  • Publication number: 20240129045
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating an entangled pair of bichromatic photons are described. The system includes an atomic vapor cell containing atoms of an atomic species located within beam paths of a first and second laser beam. The first and In second laser beams are tuned to first and second wavelengths that are resonant with first and second atomic transitions of the atomic species such that the first and second laser beams cause a four-wave mixing process within the atomic vapor cell. As a result of the four-wave mixing process, entangled photon pairs having a third and fourth wavelength are generated and output from the atomic vapor cell. The first and second wavelengths may be selected to create electromagnetically-induced transparency (BIT) within the atomic vapor cell, the BIT creating a transparent medium within the atomic vapor cell at the third wavelength, improving spectral brightness and/or photon linewidths.

  • Publication number: 20240112088
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vector-quantized image modeling using vision transformers and improved codebook handling. In particular, the present disclosure provides a Vector-quantized Image Modeling (VIM) approach that involves pretraining a machine learning model (e.g., Transformer model) to predict rasterized image tokens autoregressively. The discrete image tokens can be encoded from a learned Vision-Transformer-based VQGAN (example implementations of which can be referred to as ViT-VQGAN). The present disclosure proposes multiple improvements over vanilla VQGAN from architecture to codebook learning, yielding better efficiency and reconstruction fidelity. The improved ViT-VQGAN further improves vector-quantized image modeling tasks, including unconditional image generation, conditioned image generation (e.g., class-conditioned image generation), and unsupervised representation learning.

  • Publication number: 20240114539
Abstract: A base station is disclosed, which is capable of appropriately configuring the timings of data assignment, data transmission and reception, and feedback for a case where the DL and UL sTTI lengths are different from each other. In this base station (100), a transmission section (106) transmits a downlink signal using a first short transmission time interval (sTTI) shortened in length than a TTI and used for downlink; and a reception section (107) receives an uplink signal using a second sTTI shortened in length than the TTI and used for uplink. When the first sTTI is shorter in length than the second sTTI, the reception section (107) receives the uplink signal in the second sTTI positioned after a predetermined interval from the transmission timing of the downlink signal, the predetermined interval being configured based on the length of the first sTTI.

  • Publication number: 20240102833
Abstract: A DFOS system and machine learning method that automatically localizes manholes, which forms a key step in a fiber optic cable mapping process. Our system and method utilize weakly supervised learning techniques to predict manhole locations based on ambient data captured along the fiber optic cable route. To improve any non-informative ambient data, we employ data selection and label assignment strategies and verify their effectiveness extensively in a variety of settings, including data efficiency and generalizability to different fiber optic cable routes. We describe post-processing steps that bridge the gap between classification and localization and combining results from multiple predictions.

  • Publication number: 20240081941
Abstract: Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive, non-radioactive, and low cost technology for diagnosis and identification of implantable medical devices in real time. Developing new ultrasound activated coatings is important to broaden the utility of in vivo marking by ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound responsive macro-phase segregated micro-composite thin films were developed to be coated on medical devices composed of multiple materials and with multiple shapes and varying surface area. The macro-phase segregated films having silica micro-shells in polycyanoacrylate produces strong color Doppler signals with the use of a standard clinical ultrasound transducer. Electron microscopy showed a macro-phase separation during slow curing of the cyanoacrylate adhesive, as air-filled silica micro-shells were driven to the surface of the film. The air sealed in the hollow space of the silica shells acted as an ultrasound contrast agent and echo decorrelation of air exposed to ultrasound waves produces color Doppler signals.

  • Patent number: 11929949
Abstract: An integrated circuit includes generation circuitry and transmission circuitry. The generation circuitry uses a reference size for a search space to generate downlink control information (DCI) in a first DCI format used for sidelink communications. The transmission circuitry transmits the DCI in the first DCI format mapped on the search space. When a second DCI format used for base station communications is mapped on the search space and the second DCI format is larger than the first DCI format, the reference size for the search space is based on the second DCI format. When a third DCI format used for sidelink communications is mapped on the search space and the third DCI format is larger than the first DCI format, and the second DCI format larger than the third DCI format is not mapped on the search space, the reference size is based on the third DCI format.

  • Patent number: 11923996
Abstract: A novel method for performing replication of messages in a network that bridges one or more physical networks to an overlay logical network is provided. A physical gateway provides bridging between network nodes of a physical network and virtual machines in the overlay logical network by serving as an endpoint of the overlay logical network. The physical gateway does not replicate messages from the bridged physical network to destination endpoints in the overlay logical network directly, but instead tunnels the message-to-be-replicated to a designated tunnel endpoint in the overlay logical network. The designated tunnel endpoint in turn replicates the message that was tunneled to it to other endpoints in the overlay logical network.
