  • Publication number: 20050051289
Abstract: A former for a machine for the production of a fibrous web, particularly a paper or cardboard web including a headbox equipped with at least one stock suspension feed, one turbulence block equipped with several channels and/or a tube generator equipped with several channels, and a headbox nozzle whose suspension jet strikes an exposed or open surface of a dewatering belt, specifically a wire. Turbulence generating elements are allocated to at least a section of the channels and/or the headbox nozzle, in order to create turbulent flows in the suspension substreams in the channels, or in the headbox nozzle. The side of the suspension stream facing away from the dewatering belt is covered at least partially by a wall. A danger of the suspension stream bursting open is reduced to a minimum. In addition, swirling motions of considerably higher intensity than occur on conventional Fourdrinier wire formers are now permissible.

  • Publication number: 20020060003
Abstract: A machine for the manufacture of a fibrous web includes a back liner former, a top liner former and at least one middle layer former. The back liner former is configured for producing a back liner, comprised of a fibrous web, with one side of the back liner having a higher fines content. The top liner former is configured for producing a top liner, comprised of a fibrous web, with one side of the top liner having a higher fines content. The middle layer formers, being configured for producing at least one middle layer, comprised of a fibrous web, with one side of the middle layer having a higher fines content, the other side of the middle layer having a lower fines content. Each middle layer former and the top former having couch rolls that define an associated couching zone; wherein the back liner former and each middle layer former are configured such that the side of the higher fines content of the back liner contacts the lower fines content side of the middle layer.

  • Patent number: 6303001
Abstract: Process for homogenizing the property cross direction profile of a continuous web made of paper or cardboard and a paper machine that is suitable for carrying out the above-mentioned process. The process is characterized in that the shrinkage cross direction profile of the material web is homogenized during its manufacturing process by controlling the local composition of the stock suspension sectionally across the width by changing the proportions of components that have different shrinkage behaviors. The paper machine includes an approach flow system having at least two regions that produce different stock suspensions with fiber mixtures that have different shrinkage behaviors. The stock suspension supplies from the approach flow system to the headbox have at least two branches for the at least two different stock suspensions. Near the headbox, a plurality of sectional mixing points are provided, which combine the stock suspensions that have different shrinkage behaviors.

  • Patent number: 6267846
Abstract: Twin wire former and method for manufacturing a fibrous material web from a fibrous suspension using same. The twin wire former comprises a movable bottom wire belt and a movable top wire belt converging at a twin wire zone. The twin wire zone has a first section, a second section and an end section. A rotating forming roller is disposed at the first section of the twin wire zone, and the to wire and the bottom wire form a wedge-shaped inlet gap at the first section of the twin wire zone. The inlet gap is adapted to receive the fibrous suspension from a headbox. The bottom wire belt and the top wire belt are adapted to form the fibrous web therebetween at the second section of the twin wire zone, and the second section of the twin wire zone has at least one drainage element. A separating device is disposed at the end of the twin wire zone and is adapted to separate one wire belt from another the wire belt.

  • Patent number: 6214167
Abstract: Twin-wire former for producing a fibrous material web from a fibrous suspension and process for separating upper and lower wires of the twin-wire former. The twin-wire former includes a twin-wire zone composed of a lower wire and an upper wire and a plurality of rolls including an inlet roll and an outlet roll. The upper wire is guidable over the plurality of rolls, the inlet roll guides the upper wire to the twin-wire zone, and the outlet roll guides the upper wire toward the inlet roll. A wedge-shaped inlet zone is formed between the upper wire and the lower wire and has an adjustable inlet wedge angle. An upper wire subassembly includes a drainage box adapted to receive suspension water that flows upwardly through the upper wire, and further includes a pivotable common support device, to which the drainage box and the inlet roll are mounted. A stroke device is coupled to the pivotable common support device to lift the pivotable common support device around a first horizontal axle.
