  • Publication number: 20230417196
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine includes first operating the internal combustion engine in a first operating state and setting a second operating state, different from the first operating state, by advancing the exhaust camshaft relative to the crankshaft by a value in comparison with the first operating state. The exhaust valve is actuated by the exhaust cam and a decompression lift of the exhaust camshaft, whereupon, in the second operating state, the cylinder assumes a function of a decompression brake by compressing a first cylinder charge in the cylinder within a respective operating cycle of the internal combustion engine and then decompressing it by a decompression travel of the exhaust valve in a region of a charge exchange top dead center. In the second operating state, the intake camshaft is retarded relative to the crankshaft by a value.

  • Patent number: 10598099
Abstract: A method for operating a reciprocating internal combustion engine in an engine braking mode of operation is provided. The method includes closing, for a first time, at least one exhaust valve of at least one cylinder in the engine braking mode of operation within a working cycle, and opening for a first time, and closing, for a second time, the at least one exhaust valve of the at least one cylinder, and opening for a second time to thereby discharge compressed gas in the cylinder via a piston of the cylinder from the cylinder. After the first opening and before the second closing, the exhaust valve is kept open, until the cylinder is filled with gas which flows through at least one exhaust channel from at least one second cylinder of the reciprocating internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 9659566
Abstract: For generating a signal to be transmitted original information is encoded into a main channel and a side channel, wherein the side channel is more robust against channel influences than the main channel. On the receiver side, when the receive quality is above a threshold, which is necessitated to execute a successful decoding of the main channel, the main channel is reproduced. If the receive quality falls below this threshold, however, the side channel is reproduced which may have less bits than the main channel and which is a correspondingly lower quality representation of the original information than the main channel.

  • Patent number: 8949284
Abstract: Information point having a provider for providing a data structure having entries about different objects, wherein a limited geographical area is associated to every object, and wherein object information is associated to every object, a determiner for determining a geographical position of the information point, an examiner for examining whether the geographical position of the information point lies in the geographical area associated to an object, and a provider for providing object information associated to an object, if the examiner has determined that the information point lies in the geographical area of the object.

  • Patent number: 8862626
Abstract: The navigation overhead and/or the content managing/updating overhead is reduced by providing link objects with condition data being associated with the link items of the link objects so that, depending on a check as to whether the condition data is fulfilled or not, an automatic handling of a link object may be performed. For example, the automatic handling may have an automatic appointing an object ID referred to by a link item of the link object that has condition data associated therewith which is fulfilled, as a newly-selected object ID.

  • Patent number: 8788693
Abstract: When generating a data stream, text data, an escape-start-sequence, a first number of data units, an escape-continuation-sequence and a second number of data units are entered into a data stream. A base decoder displays only the text data and skips the data units referenced by the escape-start-sequence and the escape-continuation-sequence, while an extension decoder reads those data units and processes them together.

  • Patent number: 8595285
Abstract: A text-based information transmission is made complying with a greater number of transport-layer systems by performing the fragmentation and de-fragmentation of the information object at the application-layer side rather than at transport-layer domain. By this manner, the text-based information service is not restricted to transport-layer systems accommodating the maximum size of the information objects. Rather, it is possible to adjust the fragmentation size of the fragments into which the information objects are fragmented to the maximum transport packet content section size offered by the transport layer within the application layer. The fragment size may even vary in a time-varying manner responsive to instructions from the transport layer posed onto the transport layer in consequence of time-varying transmission channel characteristics, for example.
