The display is configured to be selectively controlled by the specific user interfaces of one or more applications resident on the computer platform, and the one or more applications and/or an arbiter that is resident on the computer platform will determine which user interface of the one or more applications resident on the computer platform controls the display based upon a predetermined criteria when the user interfaces compete for control of the display.
