  • Publication number: 20230348640
Abstract: This invention relates to a homogeneous process to produce propylene copolymers, such as propylene ethylene copolymers, using transition metal complexes of a dianionic, tridentate ligand that features a central neutral heterocyclic Lewis base and two phenolate donors, where the tridentate ligand coordinates to the metal center to form two eight-membered rings. Preferably the bis(phenolate) complexes are represented by Formula (I): where M, L, X, m, n, E, E?, Q, R1, R2, R3, R4, R1?, R2?, R3?, R4?, A1, A1?, and are as defined herein, where A1QA1? are part of a heterocyclic Lewis base containing 4 to 40 non-hydrogen atoms that links A2 to A2? via a 3-atom bridge with Q being the central atom of the 3-atom bridge.

  • Publication number: 20220267489
Abstract: Described herein are hydrocarbon polymer modifiers for use in various applications. The hydrocarbon polymer modifier comprises a cyclic component, and has a glass transition temperature and Mn defined by the following two equations: (1) Tg?95?2.2*(% H Ar); and (2) Tg??53+(0.265*Mn) and an aromaticity content of greater than 6 mole %, wherein Tg is glass transition temperature as expressed in ° C. of the modifier, the % H Ar represents the content of aromatic protons in the hydrocarbon polymer modifier, and Mn represents the number average molecular weight of the hydrocarbon polymer modifier, and the cyclic component is selected from the group of a distillation cut from a petroleum refinery stream, and/or C4 C5 or C6 cyclic olefins and mixtures thereof. The hydrocarbon modifiers are particularly useful in high Tg applications where low molecular weight resin is desirable.

  • Publication number: 20220267649
    Abstract: A pressure-sensitive adhesive may comprise: about 18 wt % to about 90 wt % of a propylene-ethylene(-diene) (PE(D)M) copolymer; about 10 wt % to about 65 wt % of a tackifier; and 0 wt % to about 40 wt % of an oil. The PE(D)M copolymer may comprise: (a) about 60 wt % to about 99 wt % propylene, (b) about 1 wt % to about 40 wt % ethylene or a C4 to C22 alpha-olefin, and (c) 0 wt % to about 20 wt % diene, wherein the PE(D)M copolymer has a heat of fusion of about 15 J/g or less.
