    Abstract: For TOC reduction by UV radiation, in the production of ultrapure water, a cylindrical UV reactor surrounded by a quartz sleeve radiates through an annular water flow channel no more than 10 mm to 15 mm wide. This causes the water to circulate in the annular zone highly exposed to the 185 nm wavelength of the UV radiation, as well as all other wavelengths under 200 nm. For optimization of mixing of the water in the zone, baffles or perturbators are provided at a series of locations to effect mixing of different layers of liquid thus promoting radial movement of the water around the quartz tube.

    Abstract: A meter, in particular a meter for fluids, especially liquids and preferably water, includes a housing having a fluid inlet opening and a fluid outlet opening. A turbine having radial blades is actuated by a movement of the fluid between the inlet and outlet openings. A device for measuring the movement of the turbine is mounted on the housing. A device for deviating a flow of the fluid is provided between the inlet opening and those radial blades of the turbine which are closest to the inlet opening. The flow deviating device is actuable from outside the housing, preferably manually and directly, in particular permitting easier manual adjustment of the meter.
