  • Patent number: 6999769
Abstract: In-progress call transfer between a wireless telephone and a wired telephone is effected using a short-range wireless communication link between the devices. Each of the devices are provisioned to include a short-range radio or infrared transceiver so that the devices can communicate with each other over the short-range wireless communication link, preferably using a given short-range wireless protocol. When the wireless telephone's battery is almost exhausted, or for any other reason that the user may desire, the wireless telephone requests the wired telephone's phone number by communicating with wired telephone over the short-range wireless communication link. Upon receipt of the wired telephone's phone number the wireless telephone issues a call transfer request to a cellular base station, passing the wired telephone's phone number. The base station and the network then re-route the call to the wired telephone.

  • Patent number: 6741577
Abstract: In a method for inter-frequency handover of a mobile station from forward and reverse links with a current base station of a wireless cellular system to new forward and reverse links usually with a new base station utilizing a CDMA modulation type, dropped calls are substantially eliminated by increasing spreading factor during the handover. Thus, a handover command is sent from the current base station to the mobile station which identifies a new operating frequency, a final spreading factor, and a starting spreading factor which is at least double, and preferably at least four times, the final spreading factor. The mobile station switches its operating frequency in accordance with the identified new operating frequency, and establishes new forward and reverse links from the mobile station at the new operating frequency and the identified starting spreading factor with the new base station.

  • Patent number: 6577717
Abstract: Broadcasting of different tariff periods in a telephone system. Subscribers of a telecommunication system are advised of service charging tariffs of services to said subscribers. In the telecommunication system, a service charging tariff message is sent to subscriber stations operated by the subscribers. The service charging tariff message comprises a starting time of a future tariff period and a tariff indication of the future tariff period. A subscriber station receiving such a service charging tariff message processes the starting time and the tariff indication. The service charging tariff information is stored and retrieved, and is displayed on a display of the subscriber station. The tariff indication comprises an early indication of off-peak time charge free minutes, usually forming part of a calling plan of a subscriber, which off-peak time free charge minutes can be spent during peak time.

  • Publication number: 20020099983
Abstract: The invention proposes a method of reporting errors occurring in the execution of a program in an electronic terminal. When an error occurs during the execution of a program, a data item relating to this error is processed automatically and stored in an error memory of the terminal. The contents of the error memory are transmitted to a remote apparatus (for example, to a server belonging to the manufacturer of the terminal) either periodically, or when the error memory is full, or upon request by the server. This transmission can be advantageously effected by means of an electronic message of the Internet, WAP or I-MODE type.

  • Patent number: 6360109
Abstract: A terminal, automatic recall procedure, and telecommunication system are disclosed which include means for integrating an automatic repeat call function in a terminal of a telecommunication network provided with a data transfer protocol which operates in the simultaneous bidirectional mode. The automatic repeat call function is realized by a device which is integrated in a local terminal provided with a command which is to be triggered after an effort to achieve a connection to a distant terminal has failed, with the object of automatically repeating the effort until the connection has been established, but staying within the limit of a given number of repeat operations.
