  • Patent number: 9744793
Abstract: According to one aspect, the invention relates to an optical safety component having a plasmonic effect intended to be observed by transmission, including two layers (101, 103) made of a transparent dielectric material, a metal layer (102) that is arranged between said layers made of dielectric material to form two dielectric-metal interfaces (105, 106), and is structured to form on at least a portion thereof corrugations (104) that are capable of coupling surface plasmon modes supported by said dielectric-metal interfaces with an incident light wave. The corrugations are arranged in a first coupling area in a first main direction and in at least one second coupling area separate from said first coupling area, in a second main direction that is substantially perpendicular to said first main direction, said metal layer being continuous on each one of said coupling areas.

  • Patent number: 9134468
Abstract: An optical authentication component visible in reflection having a structure imprinted on a substrate of index n0, a thin layer, made of a dielectric material having a refractive index n1, deposited on the structure, and a layer made of a material having an index n2 similar to n0, encapsulating the structure coated with the thin layer, is disclosed. The structure has a first pattern modulated by a second pattern, the first pattern is a bas-relief with an array of facets, having shapes which are defined to simulate an image in relief of an object in relief, and the second pattern is a periodic grating that modulates the first pattern which produces, after the thin layer has been deposited and the structure has been encapsulated, a first color at a first viewing angle and a different second color at a second viewing angle, obtained by azimuthal rotation of the component.

  • Publication number: 20140239627
Abstract: One aspect of the invention relates to an optical security component (10) comprising at least one diffractive element (7) formed by at least one annular diffractive grating (111, 113, 115, 117, 131, 133, 135) characterized by a minimum radius (Rmin), a maximum radius (Rmax) and a period (d). According to the invention, using a polychromatic light-emitting object, the aforementioned diffractive element can form a plurality of images at different observation distances from the component, the spectral characteristics of said images varying as a function of the observation distance from the component.

  • Publication number: 20120162771
Abstract: The present invention discloses a pixelated optical filter comprising high-index refraction material positioned between low-index-refraction matter. At least some of the high-index refraction material has a grated structure and lateral and vertical dimensions with respect to the low-index-refraction matter such that the high-index refraction material is operative to act as a leaky waveguide for light incident on the pixelated optical filter. The grated structure comprises a plurality of at least one grating pattern that is planarly bounded. Each of the plurality of at least one grating pattern constitutes a subpixel. A plurality of subpixels is operative to diffract incident light to at least one zero-order wavelength spectrum respective of the at least one grating pattern. Additional and alternative embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
