Abstract: An improved method, apparatus, and computer instructions for updating configuration settings. In response to starting an application server in the data processing system, a messaging system is contacted to determine whether a configuration change occurred while the application server was unavailable. Configuration data is received to implement the configuration change in response to a determination that the configuration change occurred, wherein the configuration setting for the application server are updated.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a transient electronic dictionary that travels with an original electronic document are provided. An author of an electronic document may generate a transient electronic dictionary that is linked with the original electronic document such that the transient electronic dictionary is transmitted along with the original electronic document when the original electronic document is distributed. At a recipient computer system, when the original electronic document is accessed, the associated transient electronic dictionary is loaded by the word processing application. The loaded transient electronic dictionary is used to expand the permanent electronic dictionary present in the recipient computer system temporarily. The word processing application may then resolve words in the original electronic document using the loaded transient electronic dictionary entries.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a data processing system for mapping a user to an application in a data processing system network are provided. An application service request from a client is received. The request is directed to a first network address. A user identifier from which the request originated is received. Responsive to receiving the user identifier, a first application version to which the user identifier is associated is identified. The first application version is one of a plurality of application versions. Responsive to identifying the first application version, the request is processed with a second network address that is associated with the first application version.

Abstract: A client server network system is disclosed that protects memory data objects from being viewed by those other than a verified user. Original application code in a server is modified to intercept calls to an original class object via a secure proxy that is injected or weaved into the original application code. The secure proxy verifies that the user generating the request for the original class object is authorized to access that object. If the user is so verified, the secured proxy encrypts the requested class object. Should an unverified user somehow access the encrypted class object, such a user would be provided with scrambled information. However, if the user making the request for the class object is a verified user, the class object is decrypted and information from the decrypted class object is transmitted to the verified user.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for sharing session data on a network are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for sharing user session data between different servers on a network are disclosed. Embodiments include a data processing system for sharing session data on a network, where the network includes an application server and an enterprise server, each providing at least part of an application to a user on the network. In some embodiments, the application server includes a session transport component for recording changes to user session data with the application server and the enterprise server includes a session transport component for requesting updated user session data from the application server. In further embodiments, the enterprise server may establish a user session based on the updated user session data received from the application server.

Abstract: Single port initial context access to an Enterprise Java Bean (“EJB”) including providing EJBs, including an EJB used by a client of a Java application; deploying the Java application, including deploying, at a fixed node and port, an application server for initial context lookup; selecting through the application server a home object for the EJB used by the client; and instantiating through the home object the EJB used by the client. Providing EJBs typically includes providing database records representing EJBs, each of which includes data describing the name of an EJB, a version of the EJB, and a node and port where an instance of the EJB may be deployed. Selecting a home object typically includes creating a context object, where the context object includes a providerURL, and the providerURL includes the node and port of the application server.
