Patent number: 12531466Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device having a supply input receiving a supply voltage, a switched-mode power supply comprising an output at which is generated a supply voltage, and a voltage linear regulator supplying a load, the regulator receiving the supply voltages, the regulator including two transistors coupled between the supply input, respectively the output of the supply, and an output node of the regulator. When the current drawn by the load is below a threshold, an output current delivered to the load is equal to a current flowing through the transistor, so that, when the current drawn by the load is above the threshold, the output current is equal to a current flowing through the transistor plus a current flowing through the transistor.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2023Date of Patent: January 20, 2026Assignee: STMicroelectronics (ALPS) SASInventor: Alexandre Pons

Publication number: 20250392219Abstract: The present description concerns a switched-mode power supply or converter and a method of controlling the converter. At each cycle in pulse-frequency modulation, the following steps are implemented. At the beginning of the cycle, a counted number of periods of a clock signal is initialized, a high-side switch is switched to the on state, and a first threshold is incremented. The counted number is updated at each period of the clock signal. The high-side switch is switched to the off state when the counted number is equal to the first threshold, and the cycle ends when the counted number is equal to a second threshold. At the end of the cycle, the first threshold is initialized if an output voltage is greater than a set point, and a new cycle begins if the output voltage is lower than the set point.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2025Publication date: December 25, 2025Inventor: Alexandre Pons

Publication number: 20250300555Abstract: The present description concerns a switched step-down converter and method. A first terminal receives a regulated voltage and is coupled to a reference potential by a resistor element. A main loop regulates the regulated voltage based on a comparison of a first voltage on the first terminal with a first threshold. A circuit enables a current source delivering a first current on the first terminal when the first voltage is lower than a second threshold. A current loop regulates the first voltage to the value of a third threshold by drawing a second current from the first terminal if the first voltage is higher than the third threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2025Publication date: September 25, 2025Inventor: Alexandre Pons
