    Abstract: An apparatus for controlling access to a data memory is provided. The apparatus includes an input interface configured to receive a request from an external processor circuit for accessing a memory area of the data memory. The apparatus additionally includes a control circuit configured to determine whether the memory area is to be accessed exclusively from within a trusted execution environment. Further, if it is determined that the memory area is to be accessed exclusively from within the trusted execution environment, the control circuit is configured to control access to the memory area of the data memory based on security information indicating whether the external processor circuit is operating in a secure mode related to the trusted execution environment.

The method includes emulating a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) of the DUT by means of a software emulator in order to provide an emulated TEE. The method further comprises intercepting at the DUT a call from a Rich Execution Environment (REE) of the DUT into the TEE of the DUT. In addition, the method includes transmitting the call to the emulated TEE such that the call is processed by the emulated TEE. The method includes transmitting a response of the emulated TEE to the REE. The response is based on the call.
