  • Publication number: 20150167272
Abstract: A beam structure of the present disclosure includes a baffle plate. A plurality of lap strips are attached around outer edges of the baffle plate. An adhesive layer is applied to outer surfaces of the lap strips. A plurality of sidewalls are assembled together around the adhesive layer, the lap strips and the baffle plate, thereby forming the beam structure. In an embodiment, the beam structure may be used as a boom assembly for a machine, such as an excavator machine.

  • Patent number: 8770676
Abstract: An undercarriage system for a track-type machine includes a ground engaging track, and an idler for the ground engaging track having a hub formed of a relatively lower hardness metallic material, and a compound annular rim capping the hub and being formed of a relatively higher hardness metallic material. The hub includes a radially projecting outer spine, which is annular and concentric with an idler mounting bore defined by an inner peripheral surface of the hub. First and second rim components of the compound annular rim abut one another and sandwich the radially projecting outer spine. Each of the first and second abutting rim components includes a stepped profile. The idler may include a remanufactured idler having a reusable hub and replacement compound annular rim.

  • Patent number: 8770677
Abstract: A compound rim assembly for a rotatable idler in an undercarriage system of a track-type machine includes a one-piece annular base configured for mounting the compound annular rim assembly upon an outer peripheral surface of an idler hub. The one-piece annular base is formed of a relatively lower hardness metallic material, and the compound rim assembly further includes a first annular track contacting rim a second annular track contacting rim positioned upon the one-piece base and being formed of a relatively higher hardness metallic material. The compound rim assembly further includes a track guiding ring trapped axially between the first and second annular track contacting rims and abutting the outer cylindrical surface of the one-piece annular base, the track guiding ring being formed of a non-metallic material and projecting radially outward of the first and second annular track contacting rims.

  • Publication number: 20090320288
Abstract: A method for facilitating turbine repair is disclosed. The method includes determining wear characteristics of a turbine blade based on at least one of turbine type or turbine application. The method also includes determining a delineated repair area on the turbine blade based on the determined wear characteristics of the turbine blade. The method additionally includes providing a replacement turbine blade part generally matching the size, shape, and material of the turbine blade.

  • Publication number: 20090314757
Abstract: A method of thick gage welding joins a first work piece to a second work piece. Abutting edges of the pieces are parallel and separated by a gap G. A displacer is inserted between the work pieces with its bottom surface substantially flush with undersides of the work pieces. The displacer width w is from 0.5G to 0.7G and the displacer height h is about 1.5 times the weld penetration depth. Respective root passes are executed with average current along the bottom of the displacer at the edge of the first work piece and the second work piece. Subsequently, respective root passes are executed at full current, or higher than average current, along the top of the displacer at the edge of the first work piece and the second work piece. The remaining space is filled via additional welding pass(es) to create a completed weld.
