  • Publication number: 20100027000
Abstract: A method and system provide coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy. In an embodiment, the system includes a detection system for measuring coherent anti-Stokes Raman signals of a sample. The system includes a first light pulse and a second light pulse. The first light pulse and the second light pulse are operable to initiate coherent vibration in the sample. The system also includes a third light pulse. The third light pulse is a probe pulse that is operable to produce scattered radiation from the sample. In addition, the system includes a spectral filter. The spectral filter shapes the probe pulse. The system further includes a detector to record the spectrum of the scattered radiation.

  • Patent number: 6795777
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, identifying a molecule of a sample includes illuminating the sample with a preparation light beam, where the preparation light beam can initiate a substantially maximized coherence of a target molecule to yield a molecular signature corresponding to the target molecule. The sample is illuminated with a probe light beam, where the probe light beam can scatter radiation from the sample. Radiation scattered from the sample is detected, and whether the radiation exhibits the molecular signature is determined. The target molecule is identified in accordance with the determination of whether the radiation exhibits the molecular signature.

  • Patent number: 5027897
Abstract: The method consists in that the formation pressure is measured, and a solvent is fed through a well into the formation. Then a hydrophilizing solution is fed through the same well into the same formation. The supply of the solvent and hydrophilizing solution is effected while keeping the bottom hole pressure approximately equal to the formation pressure.

  • Patent number: 5004050
Abstract: The method consists in generating periodically shock waves by initiating the electric discharge in a fluid filling in the well between the electrodes. To initiate the electric discharge, a current-conducting fluid comprising a dielectric fluid and a current-conducting powder material is fed additionally between the electrodes. The device for carrying the method into effect comprises a discharge chamber (5) with positive and negative a system of feeding an initials between the electrodes (3, 4), a system of feeding an initiator between the electrodes (3, 4), electrodes (3, 4), and a surge current generator (2). The device has at least one metering valve (12) with a drive (13) and an additional chamber (9) filled in with a dielectric fluid. A duct (10) having a pressure spool valve (11) is provided in the wall of the additional chamber (9). Inlet and outlet holes (7, 6) are provided in the wall of the discharge chamber (5).

  • Patent number: 4558737
Abstract: A downhole thermoacoustic device comprises a heater with a terminal chamber, connected to a source or radiator of acoustic oscillation, including a hollow housing having mounted therein a longitudinal shaft carrying coils with cores in the form of a plurality of flat rings of a magnetostrictive material, operable as the active elements adapted to generate acoustic oscillation. Accommodated intermediate the coils is a member for focusing the acoustic field, in the form of a sleeve, while the longitudinal shaft carries a tube-shaped reflector of acoustic oscillation internally of the core of each coil. The top and bottom portions of the hollow housing of the radiator of acoustic oscillation have mounted therein damping elements including sleeves of a resilient material, while a heat-insulating member including a sleeve with a fluted surface is provided intermediate the terminal chamber of the heater and the hollow housing of the radiator.
