  • Patent number: 8184524
Abstract: Various embodiments are described for adaptive puncturing techniques. An adaptive bit loading block may select different modulation schemes and puncturing patterns for different subcarriers of a communications channel based on channel state information for one or more subcarriers of the communications channel. Each puncturing pattern may have a different number of output coded bits.

    Assignee: Intel Corporation
Inventors: Alexander A. Maltsev, Ali S. Sadri, Alexey Davydov
  • Patent number: 8019026
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and article for downlink (DL) preamble processing for initial acquisition are described. The apparatus may include an autocorrelator node to determine an autocorrelation response of samples and to detect a downlink preamble based on the autocorrelation response. The samples may include a periodic sequence having two or more periods. The apparatus may include a frequency domain matched filter processing node to perform downlink preamble recognition based on a maximum peak of a frequency domain matched filter response and on an index of the downlink preamble. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 7899125
Abstract: A transmitter may include a set of stream groups, each including two or more streams producing a set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) stream-symbols and a coding unit interleaving the stream-symbols into an interleaved signal. An input bit multiplexer may route an input data signal to be divided among each of the streams. An inverse fast Fourier transform unit may operate on a combined signal formed from interleaving the interleaved signals from each stream group. Each stream may include for example a baseband signal processor producing the OFDM stream-symbols.
