  • Publication number: 20090254205
Abstract: A method of switching seamlessly at a receiving end is provided for converting a lower quality digital signal to a higher quality digital signal by initiating a real-time sound reconstruction and restoration process on the lower quality signal. The conversion occurs without interruption of the signal and without re-opening a connection to the signal provider.

  • Publication number: 20080243518
Abstract: A system and method for the improved compression of audio signals and the restoration and enhancement of audio recordings missing high frequency content. In the preferred embodiment the different context models are applied to increase the compression ratio of spectral information, quantization coefficients and other information. Context models and arithmetic compression are used for final compression. The time-frequency amplitude envelope and degree of tonality parameters are extracted from the low frequency component. An estimate of the high frequency component is performed by applying a multiband distortion effect, waveshaping, to the low frequency content. Control of tonality is achieved by varying the number of bands within the multiband framework. A filterbank is used that roughly shapes the reconstructed high frequency component according to an estimation of the most probable shape.

  • Publication number: 20080016237
Abstract: A hybrid player and a method of using the hybrid player to play a first stream and a second stream simultaneously while muting the second stream. The first stream continues to play until it is desired to replace the first stream with the second stream. Simultaneously, the first stream is muted and the second stream is unmated while simultaneously increasing a volume of the second stream.
