In some embodiments, the fibrotic disease is fatty liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. In particular aspects, the methods comprise administering an inhibitor of Shc gene expression to achieve genetic suppression of Shc activity in the subject.
