  • Publication number: 20240083576
Abstract: An aerial system including an anchoring member; a support cable extending along a vertical axis and suspended from the anchoring member, a thrusted platform and an end effector. The thrusted platform is suspended from an anchoring member using the support cable and comprises: a frame and at least three bidirectional thrusters for controlling the platform along three degrees of freedom. The at least three bidirectional thrusters are positioned and oriented to produce the thrust force in a substantially horizontal direction along a common substantially horizontal plane, to allow a translation along the common substantially horizontal plane and a rotation around the vertical axis. The system also comprises an end effector mounted to the frame. A thrusted platform suspendable from an anchoring member using a support cable is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11118892
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a deformation distribution of an object having a longitudinal dimension comprises a structure for supporting the object. A sensor unit comprises a base, a contact member having a body connected to the base by a rotational joint such rotational degrees of freedom are provided between the base and the contact member, an end of the body configured to contact and move along the object, and at least one sensor for determining an orientation of the body relative to the base. A displacement module enables relative movement between the sensor unit and the structure for the sensor unit to relatively move along the object in the longitudinal dimension. A method and system for measuring a rigidity distribution of an object having a longitudinal dimension are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20200182310
Abstract: A system for controlling a tension of a tether between an object and a load tethered to the object comprises magnetorheological (MR) fluid actuator unit(s) including at least one torque source and at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus coupled to the at least one torque source to receive torque from the at least one torque source, the MR fluid clutch apparatus controllable to transmit a variable amount of torque via an output of the MR fluid actuator unit. A tensioning member is connected to the output so as to be pulled by the output member upon actuation of the magnetorheological fluid clutch apparatus, a free end of the tensioning member adapted to exert a pulling action when being pulled by the output member. Sensor(s) provide information indicative of a relation between the object and the load tethered to the object. A controller controls the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus in exerting the pulling action based on said information.
