Patent number: 10653878Abstract: An apparatus or method for forming a sterile connection. The apparatus includes at least two sterile tubes each disposed within a flange. Each flange has an external face that completely covers the mouth of the tube. Each flange is designed to be displaced when force is applied to the tube to move the tubes toward one another such that the external face of each flange is displaced radially or axially outwards away from the mouth of the tube. When the external faces are displaced, the external face of each flange opens and tubes connect and form a sterile connection therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2016Date of Patent: May 19, 2020Assignee: Metanova, ABInventors: Alf Löfving, Håkan Samuelsson, Lennart Myhrberg, Sten Johansson

Patent number: 10247312Abstract: A disposable device for the sterile transfer of fluids, such as liquids or gases, includes a body, a bore formed through at least a portion of the interior of the body, and a linearly moveable plunger contained within the bore. The body is formed from a rotating section and a stationary section. Partial rotation of the rotating section around a portion of the stationary section and the plunger drives the plunger linearly within the bore, opening and closing the device. The plunger includes at least a first and a second opening, and a fluid channel in the interior of the plunger connecting the first and second openings forming a fluid pathway to downstream components when the device is open. A termination component at one end of the plunger connects to a downstream component. A flange at one end of the body attaches to an upstream component.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2016Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Jeff Hartnett, Alf Lofving, Lars Hultquist, Jan Davidsson, Lennart Myhrberg

Patent number: 9027604Abstract: The present invention relates to sealing means made of a plastically deformable material for mechanical sealing of hollow hoses (2) of elastic material by means of an appliance having at least two jaws, at least one of which is movable towards and away from the other and which, when moving towards each other, crimp the sealing means against the hose (2) for contamination-tight sealing of the same, the sealing means (20) comprises at least one sealing member (4, 4?; 44, 44?; 64, 64?; 74, 74?; 84), which has two opposite ends and an opening (40, 40?) that extends between said ends to allow the at least one sealing member to be slipped onto the hose (2) to be sealed. The present invention also relates to a kit comprising a sealing means and an appliance for sealing of hollow hoses and to a method for mechanical sealing of hollow hoses.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2011Date of Patent: May 12, 2015Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Alf Lofving, Jan Davidsson, Anders Karlsson

Publication number: 20070253287Abstract: A disposable unit (1) for processing products (2) has a thin-walled container (3) of a soft material for holding the products and a processing unit (6) inside the container to make the products move. The container is in its lower portion (4) reinforced with a support (5) of a dimensionally stable material, which support has a smooth surface (9) and supports the container over its lower portion so as to counteract the occurrence of folds and other irregularities in the lower portion and the impairment of an even process effect. The inside (10) of the support is substantially cup-shaped without corners to give the lower portion of the container an optimal geometry and, consequently, an optimal process effect.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2007Publication date: November 1, 2007Inventors: Lennart Myhrberg, Alf Lofving
