Patent number: 11666851Abstract: A filter element may include a primary layer of filter media defining a chamber having an open end and a closed end distally opposite the open end, and at least one secondary layer of filter media adjacently fixed to the primary layer of filter media. The at least one secondary layer of filter media may be located at the closed end of the primary layer of filter media for increasing a pressure drop at the closed end, such that fluid flow is homogeneously distributed through the chamber in response to the pressure drop. The primary layer of filter media is formed of a non-compressible material and may be tapered to further controlling pressure drops through the chamber. A pocket filter assembly may include one or more filter elements disposed within a housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2016Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Jonathan Robert George, Alfin Leo

Publication number: 20220288512Abstract: A filter element having an end cap with a base and a sleeve surrounding a central aperture in the base and projecting axially outwardly therefrom, where the sleeve includes i) a notched locating feature in a distal edge of the sleeve; and ii) a seal surrounding the outer surface of the sleeve and having planar segments, with a first planar segment located between the locating feature and the distal edge of the sleeve, and a second planar segment, extending along a plane different from the first planar segment, located between the notched locating feature and the base. In an alternate embodiment, the sleeve includes an axially-extending locating feature on an outer surface thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2022Publication date: September 15, 2022Applicant: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventor: Alfin Leo

Patent number: 11344833Abstract: A securing mechanism and a method for securing a filter element within a housing may be implemented in a pocket-type or cartridge-type filter assembly. The securing mechanism includes a mating frame having a retaining portion extending into the filter element within the housing for retaining the filter element within the housing, and a mounting portion mounted to the housing. The securing mechanism includes a semi-rigid member having opposite ends that are each secured to the mounting portion of the mating frame and a flexible portion between the opposite ends that is flexibly moveable to constrain the semi-rigid member at the opposite ends. The semi-rigid member is pressed against the mating frame to hold the filter element in place when the semi-rigid member is constrained.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2016Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Jonathan Robert George, Alfin Leo, Pierre Laforge

Patent number: 9297309Abstract: The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for use in exhaust manifold assemblies of large diesel engines. In one aspect, a screen for use in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided. The screen includes a plate formed in a concave shape. The plate has a concave surface. The concave surface has a plurality of apertures and a plurality of non-intersecting, radially oriented slots formed therein. The plurality of slots and apertures have a size and open area selected to prevent debris from entering a turbo charger. The slots separate the apertures into predefined sections, and a radially outward end of the slots is spaced from a perimeter of the plate. In another aspect, a reducer assembly for use in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided. In yet a further aspect, a method of using a screen in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2014Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: PARKER HANNIFIN CANADAInventors: Sylvain Champoux, Alfin Leo, Ilko Paunov
