  • Patent number: 7854408
Abstract: A carousel coiler with two coilers, which are mounted in a rotatable rotor, are rotatably driven independently of each other, are intended for the successive, continuous winding of metal strip and each have spray heads, which comprise a number of segments that can be moved in a spreading manner, are supported on axially displaceable wedge-shaped directing surfaces and on which the coilers can be cyclically moved in each case from a starting position into a strip-coil transfer position by turning of the rotor, is to be developed in such a way that a pivot-into-place outside bearing becomes superfluous, that the coil or the coil to be wound is always supported on both sides in every position, and that the carousel coiler can be used both for winding up and unwinding coils.

  • Patent number: 7401485
Abstract: Steel strip issues continuously from a downstream end of a rolling line and can be wound up there on a coiler. An inspection table downstream of the rolling line has a surface aligned with the downstream end and the strip emerging therefrom. The coiler is below a plane of the table surface. During normal rolling the strip is deflected downward to the coiler and reeled up. For inspection of the strip, the strip is cut transversely to produce a new leading end and is fed starting at this end toward the table without substantial deflection. Then the strip is cut again upstream of the new leading end to form a strip sample separate from the strip emerging from the rolling line, which sample is fed to the table and arrested and inspected while strip emerging from the line is deflected back down to the coiler to continue coiling it up.

  • Publication number: 20060053860
Abstract: A method of rolling and then coiling metal strip (1) especially steel strip (1) on at least one rotatably driven and spreadable coiling mandrel (20), whereby the metal strip (1) is inspected in longitudinal segments for rolling anomalies, in which an economical and rapid inspection of the strip samples (1a) is carried out in a continuous rolling process and wherein the strip samples (1a) within the rolling line (2a) are guided “in line” above a lower-lying coiling station (18) onto an inspection table (11) for a free perusal and are stopped on that inspection table.
