    Abstract: A process for preparing salts of 3-isopropyl-2,1,3-benzothia-diazin-4-one 2,2-dioxide of the general formula I ##STR1## (R.sup.1 -R.sup.4 =H, lower alkyl, lower hydroxyalkyl) by reacting bentazone (IIa) with an amine IIIa in an organic solvent, by reacting bentazone (IIa) with an amine IIIa or an ammonium salt IIIb in a virtually water-immiscible organic solvent and taking up the salt I in water or by reacting bentazone (IIa) with an ammonium salt IIIb or bentazone-sodium (IIb) with an ammonium salt IIIc, in each case in water.
