  • Patent number: 6400106
Abstract: An inductive load is managed to reduce unnecessary induced electromagnetic radiation as caused by unwanted voltage and/or current fluctuations. The management is accomplished through combined current and voltage slew rate limiting of a transistor driving the inductive load. This management may be effected through a combination of analog and digital circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6278278
Abstract: The primary-side voltage profile of an ignition voltage is converted into an analog current through the use of a first regulating circuit, whose output voltage is compared with a first comparison voltage in a first comparator. The output voltage is compared with a second comparison voltage in a second comparator. A diagnostic signal for the ignition switch can be tapped at the output of the first comparator, and a measurement signal for the burning duration can be tapped at the output of the second comparator.

  • Patent number: 6257216
Abstract: The primary winding of an ignition coil is connected in series with an ignition switch that can be switched by a control circuit. A circuit including a capacitor, a resistor, and a diode is configured between the control terminal and the collector of the ignition switch. When the primary current is switched on, the capacitor discharge brings about a voltage reduction at the base of the ignition switch resulting in slowing down the trailing voltage edge at the collector of the ignition switch.

  • Patent number: 6204693
Abstract: An apparatus is described for regulating the flow of current through a load in which the flow of current is monitored in the form of a reference voltage by an analog input and a digital input of an arithmetic and logic unit. The voltage measured at the analog input is used to regulate the flow of current. The voltage measured at the digital input either as a low or as a high signal is used to switch off the flow of current when there is a low signal.

  • Patent number: 5903121
Abstract: In a method for triggering a DC motor through an integrated H-bridge circuit by using a control circuit and an apparatus for carrying out the method, a high-side transistor switch or a low-side transistor switch associated with each motor terminal, or both of the transistor switches, are each controlled or regulated to a conductive state by a respective guard circuit, if and as long as a potential at a motor terminal is or falls below a predetermined value. Each guard circuit has a biased transistor with a conductive state in which the associated transistor switches are made conducting through a current mirror.

  • Patent number: 5343350
Abstract: A circuit configuration for protecting the on-board electrical system of a motor vehicle includes an input connected to a voltage source, an output connected to a load and a ground connection being common to both the input and the output. A current stabilizer regulates an output current. A switch controls the current stabilizer as a function of the output current. An overload switch carries an overload current from the input through the current limiter to the output upon the appearance of an overload at the output, and carries a short-circuit current from the output through the excess voltage switch to ground upon a short circuit at the output to an excess voltage.

  • Patent number: 5323072
Abstract: An assembly has a control component with outputs, and a data transmission bus with leads. An interface circuit or an integrated driver component for connecting the control component to the data transmission bus includes two drivers each having an input and an output. The outputs of the drivers are each connected to a respective one of the leads of the bus. Each of two series resistors is connected between a respective one of the outputs of the control component and the input of a respective one of the drivers for controlling the drivers with the control component. Each of two capacitors is connected between ground and a respective one of the outputs of the drivers connected to the leads of the bus.

  • Patent number: 5231308
Abstract: In a control device having an analog part and a digital part, an analog ground plane layer is provided for the analog part and a digital ground plane layer is provided for the digital part, these ground plane layers being separately connected to a conductive base plate of the control device to which a grounding line is also connected. This reduces emissions via the ground line and the shield of the signal line caused by high frequency switching events in the digital part.
