  • Patent number: 5318149
Abstract: There is described an apparatus for inspecting the underside of bridges, with an undercarriage (1), an intermediate carrier (11) attached to this, a guide member (9) mounted on the intermediate carrier rotatably about a horizontal axis of rotation (12), and a lifting tower (4) received by the guide member, movable perpendicularly relative to its axis of rotation and having four corner spars. The guide member (9) has a flat shape and is in sliding engagement only with the two corner spars adjacent to it, these two corner spars being designed with a higher load-bearing capacity than the other two. The intermediate carrier (11) is preferably mounted on the undercarriage (1) by means of a lever parallelogram pivotable about vertical axes and consisting of at least two levers (13( 14) (FIG. 6).

  • Patent number: 5253731
Abstract: A bridge underview device includes a chassis; a turntable mounted on the chassis and being rotatable about a vertical axis; a bearing element mounted on the turntable by a first pivot joint for a swinging motion about a horizontal axis of the first pivot joint; a guide member; an elevating tower mounted on the guide member for gliding displacement relative to the guide member; a first arm coupled to the bearing element by a second pivot joint and to the guide member by a third pivot joint; and a second arm extending parallel to the first arm and being coupled to the bearing element by a fourth pivot joint and to the guide member by a fifth pivot joint. The second, third, fourth and fifth pivot joints each have a horizontal axis, whereby the guide member and the elevating tower are swingable as a unit relative to the bearing member in a vertical plane while maintaining an unchanged orientation.

  • Patent number: 5167295
Abstract: A vehicle is proposed, in particular a chassis of a bridge-underside inspection apparatus, having a frame (1) and road-vehicle wheels. In order to be able to quickly and simply convert such a vehicle into an operational chassis having increased stability, a pneumatically sprung axle unit (3) and, in front of and/or behind this pneumatically sprung axle unit, at least one unsprung auxiliary wheel (7, 8) are arranged on the frame (1). The axle unit (3) has a pneumatically actuated device (4, 5) which is connected to the spring-suspension arrangement and by means of which the frame (1) can be lowered from a top position in which the spring suspension is effective into a bottom position. The auxiliary wheel (7, 8) is lifted from the roadway in the top position of the frame (1) during the road-transport operation and stands on the roadway in the bottom position of the frame (1) during working operation.

  • Patent number: 5015475
Abstract: The invention serves to prevent or delay the formation of undesired phosphine levels in packages in which phosphine releasing compositions (in particular hydrolysable metal phosphides) are packaged and stored and in environments to be fumigated during the period of introduction of phosphine-releasing compositions. This is brought about by maintaining in the immediate vicinity of the composition a zeolite having a pore width from 0.3 nm upwards, preferably 0.4 to 1.5 nm and an adsorbtive affinity for moisture or phosphine or preferably both. The zeolite is employed either as a separate item in the package or as part of the composition, admixed or as a coating. In a mass ratio of metal phosphide to zeolite are from 1:0.05 to 1:2. The adsorption of phosphine to the zeolite is reversible and on exposure to an environment to be subjected to pest control, the zeolite will release the adsorbed phosphine by replacement by atmospheric humidity.

  • Patent number: 4893696
Abstract: A working catwalk, in particular for bridge inspection apparatuses, comprising a floor section and a balustrade on each longitudinal side, to and having a variable width. The floor section consists of a center floor section, extending in the longitudinal center, and lateral additional floors. The balustrades are connected in an articulated manner to the center floor section via cantilever struts which can be pivoted out laterally, the axes of the joints connecting the struts to the center floor running parallel to one another and approximately perpendicularly to the working surface. Alternatively, the balustrades can also be designed as self reinforcing girders.

  • Patent number: 4696371
Abstract: The invention relates to a bridge bottom inspection apparatus which includes an operating chassis movable along the edge of the bridge. A lift tower (6) is raisably and lowerably supported by chassis and can extended downwards past the edge of the bridge. A work platform (5 ) is attached to the lift tower and can be cantilevered beneath the bridge. In order to permit the apparatus to be erected simply, to reduce its overall weight and therefore the load upon the bridge, and to overcome high sound insulation walls located in the guard rail region, the operating chassis has a guide tower (8) located on the bridge, on which the lift tower (6) is guided for up and down movement by means of cantilevered support elements (10). The operating chassis may be a rail or transport vehicle (1). The guide tower (8) is mounted on a turntable (3) of the vehicle pivotably about a horizontal axis (9).
