  • Patent number: 7237373
Abstract: A stalk roll for a harvesting device for harvesting crop heads of stalk-like plants. The stalk roll is provided with a roll body having projecting drivers distributed around its periphery. The pull-in speed of the stalk rolls in a picking region where the crop heads are removed is less than in a region of the stalk rolls situated farther downstream after the crop head has been removed. The diameter of the roll body in the picking region is greater than in the region situated farther downstream. In addition, it is proposed that upstream of a picking region the stalk roll have an inlet region which cooperates with the parts of the plants beneath the crop heads, where the pull-in speed of the stalk roll is greater than in the picking region.

  • Patent number: 7073316
Abstract: A harvesting implement for the harvesting of stalk-like plants comprising an intake arrangement for taking up plants located on a field and a stalk divider arranged ahead of the intake arrangement in the forward direction. The crop divider is supported in bearings so that it is free to move relative to the intake arrangement when it is in its harvesting position. The stalk divider is free to move in the sideways direction, that extends transverse to the forward direction.

  • Patent number: 7062896
Abstract: A gathering and picking device having a gathering element having radially extending fingers is rotated about an approximately vertical axis. The fingers are arranged to grasp plant stalks and transport the plant stalks along a picking gap of a picking device. The picking gap is curved such that it maintains an at least approximately constant distance from the vertical rotational axis of the gathering element over its operative length.

  • Publication number: 20050132688
Abstract: A header for mowing stalk crops is equipped with several mowing and feed devices which are disposed on both sides of the longitudinal mid-plane of the header. Along the backs of the mowing and feed devices at each side of the header there is a transverse conveyor channel through which plants, harvested by the mowing and feed devices, are conveyed to the center of the header. At the center of the header deflecting conveying elements are disposed on both sides in front of a feed channel of a forage harvester and operate to deflect the plants to the rear so as to transfer them to the feed channel. The transverse conveying channels are disposed at an angle relative to the transverse direction. Preferably, an extension of an imaginary line lying along the transverse conveying channel at each side of the header intersects the opposite deflecting conveying elements at or behind a point where the deflecting conveying elements move to a greater extent rearward than toward the longitudinal mid-plane of the header.

  • Publication number: 20050132689
Abstract: A header for mowing stalk crops includes an inner pair of mowing and feed devices located on opposite sides of, and adjacent to, the longitudinal mid-plane of the header, with the mowing and feed devices rotating about an approximately vertical axis. A pair of deflecting conveying elements receive cut plants from the inner pair of mowing and feed devices and transfer the plants to the feed channel of a forage harvester, that carries the header at its front. A pair of outer mowing and feed devices are also mounted for rotation about respective approximately vertical axes and transfer cut plants to the pair of inner mowing and feed devices. The outer pair of mowing and feed devices are respectively disposed rearward of the inner pair of mowing and feed devices.

  • Publication number: 20030079459
Abstract: A picking roll for engaging a standing agricultural plant, has a picking section for tangentially pulling in the standing plant. The picking section is divided into a first picking portion and a second picking portion. The first picking portion is driven at a first rotational speed and the second picking portion is driven at a second rotational speed that is different from the first rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 5749208
Abstract: The mowing implement of a mowing apparatus, rotating about a vertical axis, is driven over a transmission comprising a freewheel mechanism and driving pins. A drive shaft is connected with the freewheel mechanism so that there cannot be any mutual rotation therebetween. In a basic orientation parallel to the axis of rotation of the mowing implement, these driving pins produce a driving connection between the freewheel mechanism and the mowing implement for driving the latter. In the event of a stoppage of the drive shaft, the driving pins, together with the freewheel mechanism, carry out a lifting motion, which interrupts the driving connection between the mowing implement and the freewheel mechanism. During their lifting motion, the driving pins activate a braking device in the region of the interior of the transmission housing above the freewheel mechanism. This braking device rapidly brings the mowing implement, which continues to run, to a stop.
