  • Patent number: 8629363
Abstract: An electrical switch having a contact system including at least one fixed contact and a switching contact. The switch has an actuating element for acting in switching fashion on the contact system and a switching slide which bears the switching contact and is moveable in a movement direction between two positions, wherein in one position the switching contact is remote from the fixed contact and in the other position the switching contact bears against the fixed contact. The switch has an actuating slide which is moveable by virtue of the actuating element and is coupled to the switching slide by an elastic element. The switch includes a latching mechanism which interacts with the switching slide, such that the switching slide can be switched over between the two positions on actuation of the actuating element with a type of snap-action movement.

  • Patent number: 6727450
Abstract: An electrical switch is provided having at least one contact system having a switching contact movable between two switch positions, an operating member that acts on the switching contact, a slide hinged on the operating member, and delay means operatively connected to the switching contact in at least one of the two switch positions. The delay means delaying movement of the switching contact, and being arranged in an extension of the slide. The delay means, the operating member and the slide are arranged on a same side of the contact system.

  • Patent number: 6630640
Abstract: An electrical switch for electrical tools having an electric motor operated by a DC voltage. The switch comprises a contact system including a stationary contact and a switching contact, an operating element which acts on the switching contact to initiate a process for switching the contact system between an on-position and an off-position and a shield that quenches an arc that occurs between the stationary contact and the switching contact during the switching process. A movable slide is operatively connected to the operating element and has the switching contact arranged thereon. During the process of switching the switching contact from the on-position to the off-position, the shield is moved to an area located between the stationary contact and the switching contact. During the process of switching the switching contact from the off-position to the on-position, the shield is moved from the area located between the stationary contact and the switching contact.

  • Publication number: 20030010617
Abstract: The intention relates to an electrical switch (1) for electrical handheld tools such as drills, angle grinders, circular saws, routers, hedge trimmers or the like, having at least one contact system (3) which has a switching contact (4) which can be moved between two switch positions, namely between a switched-off position and a switched-on position for switching, and has a stationary contact (5) which interacts with the switching contact (4) in the switched-on position. The switch (1) has an operating member (6) which acts on the switching contact (4) for switching. A delay means (8) is located in the switch (1) and is operatively connected to the switching contact (4), in particular in the switched-on position, in order to delay the switching movement to at least one of the two switching positions. The delay means (8) and the operating member (6) are arranged on the same side of the contact system (3).

  • Patent number: 6469268
Abstract: An electrical switch which can be used in particular in power tools, such as drilling machines, angle grinders or the like, is disclosed. The switch has an actuator, at least one fixed contact, and at least one switching contact. The switching contact is arranged on a slide which is moveable between two positions by means of the actuator. The switching contact is at a distance from the fixed contact in the one position and bears against the fixed contact in the other position. An elastic device interacts with the slide, so that the slide can be changed over between the two positions with a type of snap movement. The elastic device may be a first spring, arranged on the slide, like a pressure-point spring.

  • Patent number: 5753993
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting carbon brushes of a reversible electric motor includes: a swivelable support; a fixed position contact plate disposed adjacent the support; a plurality of fixed contacts received in the contact plate and adapted to be electrically connected to field windings of the electric motor; and a plurality of brush holders arranged on the support for holding the carbon brushes, each of the brush holders having a facing surface which faces the contact plate. Each of the brush holders further includes a projecting portion projecting approximately perpendicularly from the facing surface in the axial direction into a region of the fixed contacts, projecting portions of the brush holders thereby forming switching contacts for making direct contact with the fixed contacts such that the fixed contacts are adapted to be in alternate contact with the carbon brushes for reversing a direction of rotation of the electric motor when the support is swiveled.

  • Patent number: 4523176
Abstract: An electrical switch comprises, in addition to its switching mechanism or mechanisms, a potentiometer including a potentiometer plate and a slider which is advantageously moved/simultaneously with the actuation of the switching mechanisms. The switch requires terminal elements not only for the switching mechanism or mechanisms but also for this potentiometer. Consequently, an electrical connection must be provided within the switch between the inner ends of the terminal elements and the potentiometer plate. In accordance with the invention, the potentiometer plate is connected to the terminal elements by slip-in attachment which not only ensures a safe hold but also effects the electrical contact. To this end, the potentiometer plate is inserted into slot-shaped seats of the terminal elements, which are prevented from being unduly enlarged by suitable means.

An operating member lock included an exterior housing portion associated with the switch housing which has a lock guide channel and a lock member bore intercepting the guide channel. The lock member is movable in the bore to engage a lock actuator which is connected to the switch operating member and is displaceable in the lock guide channel. The lock member is engageable with the lock actuator when the switch operating member is in an actuated position in order to lock the lock member and the switch operating member against movement.
