  • Publication number: 20110068974
Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed which relate to a mountable, inline global navigation satellite system receiver module with a standard interface to mobile computing devices and a connection to external antennae. In addition to allowing for data transfer from the receiver module to the mobile computing device, the standard interface is a conduit to power the receiver module and, in some embodiments, the external antennae. Further, a system is disclosed that determines the position coordinates of a mobile computing device via a mountable, inline global navigation satellite system receiver module in communication with the mobile computing device.

  • Publication number: 20110044347
Abstract: A particular residential gateway includes a connector interface to receive a composite signal including voice data, video data, and network data via one or more communication lines and a power coupling device to receive power via the one or more communication lines. The residential gateway includes a voice module to route the voice data to a voice-enabled device coupled to a network interface, a video module to route the video data to a video-enabled device coupled to the network interface, and a network module to route the network data to a computing device coupled to the network interface. The residential gateway further includes a testing module to communicate test results to an external device via a data communication interface. At least one of the voice module, the video module, the network module, and the testing module is powered using the power received by the power coupling device.

  • Publication number: 20110047585
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network device to transmit interactive TV services using minimally twisted or non-twisted pair cables including a controller to receive a very high digital subscriber line (VDSL) signal at the minimally twisted or non-twisted pair cable and adapt the VDSL signal for transmission over the minimally twisted or non-twisted pair cable to form an adapted VDSL signal which can subsequently be used for presentation of interactive TV services. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100270968
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for managing energy consumption. Electrical power from an auxiliary battery system is received. The electrical power is shared with peripheral devices. A characteristic of a vehicle battery is received from an interface to an on board diagnostic system. When the electrical power received from the auxiliary battery system is less than a threshold value, then the auxiliary battery system is charged from a connection to the vehicle battery. The charging of the auxiliary battery system is disabled when the characteristic of the vehicle battery is less than the minimum value.

  • Publication number: 20100023994
Abstract: Network interface devices and methods are provided. A particular network interface device includes a first network interface adapted to terminate one or more communication lines and a second network interface to terminate at least one coaxial line. The network interface device also includes at least one interface connector adapted to receive a removable plug-in module. The removable plug-in module includes a video unit that is operable to receive video data from a network device via at least one of the one or more communication lines and to process the video data for communication via the at least one coaxial line or a twisted wire pair when the plug-in module is connected to the at least one interface connector. The removable plug-in module also includes a power coupling device to receive power via at least one of the one or more communication lines.
