    Abstract: Current mobile devices that feature force feedback touchpads include haptic engines that operate in a narrow bandwidth and therefore cannot be used as a dual-purpose center channel for media playback. Further, a separate dedicated loudspeaker for a center channel would add cost and reduce integration space. The presently disclosed dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker can enable an enhanced audio experience without the need for an additional dedicated loudspeaker. The dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker can be used for haptics feedback as well as provide audio output over the frequency range 400 Hz to 10 kHz. The dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker may use a tuned spring-mass actuator and adopt mechanical properties to provide a specific desired mechanical compliance to the dual-use haptic trackpad loudspeaker.

    Abstract: Mesh materials for the controlled release of antimicrobial and antiviral compounds, with high antiviral activity and efficacy, predominantly against coronavirus, and a method for producing mesh materials with inclusion compounds of bisbiguanide:cyclodextrin, using mesh materials selected from polymers, fibers, nonwoven fabric, fabrics, paper and cellulose, individually or in combination, or a combination of one or more of these mesh materials with adhesives. The mesh materials impregnated, extruded, saturated, coated or laminated with inclusion compounds have been shown to be effective in the deactivation/destruction of viral particles. In fabrics, the inclusion compounds exhibited virucidal activity for all of the viruses in the coronavirus group for contact times of above 2 minutes, with the effect thereof lasting for more than 30 days. The mesh materials for controlled release of antivirals have displayed activity which is up to 1000 times more effective than the use of unencapsulated chlorhexidine.

    Abstract: A method of video segment detection within a transport stream of a video asset is provided. Boundaries of candidate video segments of interest (i.e., advertisements, sports highlights, news highlights, content summaries, etc.) within a video asset are detected with a media analysis detector and are separately detected based on statistical models generated from historic transport control event data collected from a population of viewers of the video asset. The above referenced information concerning the candidate video segments of interest is used to identify beginning and end boundaries of selected candidate video segments within the transport stream. A transcoder is provided with parameters corresponding to the selected candidate video segments and performs group of pictures (GOP) and chunk boundary alignment of chunks of the transport stream with the boundaries of the selected candidate video segments. A system and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A level-‘n’ cache and method are disclosed. The level-‘n’ cache method comprises: in response to a data access request identifying an address of a data block to be accessed, interrogating an address cache of the level-‘n’ cache arranged to store address portions for a sub-set of data blocks stored in a main cache of the level-‘n’ cache to determine whether a cache hit occurs within the address cache for the address. In this way, providing the address cache which is separate from the main cache, with the address cache storing address portions relating to data blocks stored in the main cache, the amount of data required to be stored in the address cache is reduced, and decouples the size of the address cache from that of the main cache which enables the address cache to be sized independent of the size of the data blocks stored in the main cache.
