  • Patent number: 4760788
Abstract: An angularly orientated print head is displaced by a reciprocating power actuator from contact with a wet inking surface along a fixed travel path having acceleration and deceleration portion. A shock absorbing guide roller stabilizes the orientation of the print head as it approaches its marking position along the deceleration portion of the travel path. A drive mechanism between the actuator and the print head renders movement thereof to and from the marking position continuous for imprinting continuously moving target material.

  • Patent number: 4694747
Abstract: Travel of a printing head between ink-receiving and marking positions is guided along an arcuate path by a fluid power piston device having a cylinder pivotally mounted at its forward end on the frame of the printing apparatus. The longitudinal axis of the ink storing cartridge engaged by the printing head in the ink-receiving positions, is inclined downwardly and is tangent to the travel path at the adjacent terminal end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4566387
Abstract: An imprinter having a continuously rotated printing wheel, is inked through a transfer roller drivingly connected by intermittent gearing to the printing wheel, the roller being in contact with a Teflon surface of an arcuate ink pad projecting from an ink storing cartridge within an inking chamber housing an excess ink wiper.

  • Patent number: 4145967
Abstract: A relatively large supply of fast drying ink is stored by an ink supply device having an elongated tubular housing connected at one axial end to a transversely enlarged ink reservoir extension. A wick extends from the ink in the reservoir through a restricted passage formed in the tubular housing by an indentation to conduct capillary flow of ink to a foam filler retained by the indentation in contact with a filter assembly closing the other opened end of the tubular housing through which the ink is dispensed to a marking device.

  • Patent number: 4023490
Abstract: A moving web is marked at spaced locations by a rotatable print head that is intermittently displaced into contact with the web during angular displacement between two rest positions by means of a signal controlled clutch drivingly connecting the print head to a driver driven by the movement of the web. In the rest positions of the print head, a print face is momentarily engaged by an ink storing device that is displaced from a retracted position.
