  • Patent number: 5951595
Abstract: A connector assembly mounted on an implantable cardiac stimulation device has an actuator mechanism for fixing and sealing electrical leads inserted into lead receptacles within the connector assembly without the use of setscrews. Fixing and sealing of the leads is accomplished by compressing resilient lead lock seals of O-ring shape, disposed in annular recesses, with lip portions of a plunger drawn toward the molded support by the actuator mechanism. In a first embodiment of the actuator mechanism, rotation of a cam actuator transversely journaled within the support, using a torque wrench or similar tool, moves a cam slide attached to the plunger through a fixed displacement between lock and unlock positions as an offset camming portion of the actuator engages the surfaces of a slot within the cam slide.

  • Patent number: 5509928
Abstract: A self-sealing septum for isolating the setscrew used to secure a pacing lead connector pin to an implantable medical device such as a cardiac pacemaker. The septum comprises a generally cylindrical elastomer body having a central axis and a self-sealing passage coaxial with the axis for receiving a tool such as a hex key for driving the setscrew. The body of the septum contains a generally ring-shaped stiffener element for providing internal support and preventing damage to the septum passage caused by insertion of the hex key.

  • Patent number: 5324311
Abstract: A compact connector assembly for an implantable medical device includes a receptacle for receiving the proximal end of a coaxial bipolar lead having a distal end attachable to a desired tissue location. The receptacle includes an open end for receiving the proximal end of the lead and a closed end carrying a conductive pin. The pin has a portion inside the receptacle projecting toward the open end thereof and adapted to make electrical contact with one of the lead conductor terminals. The proximal end of the lead has a conductive socket for receiving the projecting portion of the pin inside the receptacle. An adapter terminal may be used to convert the proximal end of the lead to the industry VS-1 standard.
