  • Patent number: 8833227
Abstract: A sealing ring obturates a propellant charge cartridge of an automatic firearm for caseless ammunition, in particular against an end face of a firearm element, in particular for a breech or a projectile cartridge. The sealing ring contains a sealing surface that can be brought into contact with the end face. The sealing surface contains a first region around an annular opening of the sealing ring and a second region around the first region. The second region is set back relative to a tangential surface to the first region. In addition, a propellant charge cartridge for an automatic firearm for caseless ammunition, has at least one of the sealing rings. The propellant charge cartridge preferably contains one or multiple, in particular two, propellant charge chambers, which are provided with a sealing ring on each of the breech side and the projectile cartridge side.

  • Patent number: 8176671
Abstract: A weapon barrel of an automatic firearm is subject to bending oscillations during firing. A damping device is provided for damping the bending oscillations and to at least largely dissipate the kinetic energy of the bending oscillations by friction processes which are initiated by the bending oscillations, between two respective successive shots in the firing sequence.

  • Patent number: 8161882
Abstract: A propellant charge for use for ammunition, in which the propellant charge is separate from the projectile, has a propellant charge substance which can be initiated by a fuse. In order to solve the problem of providing a propellant charge for use in a two-part munition, which on the one hand can be produced easily and at low cost and on the other hand does not present any risk of damage when mechanically loaded before use, it is proposed that a propellant charge casing be provided which surrounds the propellant charge substance, with the propellant charge casing being in the form of a plastic part which is composed of a non-combustible, temperature-stable plastic material.

  • Patent number: 5760330
Abstract: A delivery apparatus (11) for full-calibre submunitions or the like payloads (12) which are coaxially stacked in its load space (19) results in a system which operates in a fault-free manner when, for ejecting the payloads (12), detachment of the load space (19) from the rocket motor (17) disposed therebehind and detachment of the ogive (14) from the opposite end of the load space (19) are each promoted by a pyrotechnic charge (28, 31), with the load space (19) being braked as a result of being positioned transversely beside the trajectory (26) of the separated motor (17) which flies further along the trajectory and past the load space in a stable configuration and with the load space (19) only then being turned by a braking parachute (23) connected to its end (22). The load space tail (18) which thereafter then faces forwardly in the direction of flight is opened by detachment of a cover (25) and the load space (19) is pulled away from the payload stack (12--12) by means of the braking parachute (23).

  • Patent number: 5033384
Abstract: A braking fabric or canvas which is fastened to the base of a carrier projectile which contains articles of submunition, through the intermediary of a fastening device, wherein the canvas is spread apart or unfolded after the separation of the base from the carrier projectile and is provided for the retardation and change in the trajectory of the base relative to the articles of submunition. The braking fabric is connected by a central surface section thereof with at least one plate element forming the fastening device. This connection between the at least one plate element and the braking fabric is preferably effectuated through an adhesive connection. Naturally, it is also possible to select a different type in effecting the connection; for example, such as a riveting connection, a combined adhesive and riveting connection, or any other suitable type of connection.
