    Abstract: Disclosed is a detergent composition containing from 0.1 to 1.0 percent by weight of a sulfinyl dipropionic acid of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 can be the same or different and are hydrogen or lower alkyl. The preferred compound is sulfinyl dipropionic acid.
