  • Patent number: 11931898
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, when executed by data processing hardware of a robot having an articulated arm and a base, causes data processing hardware to perform operations. The operations include determining a first location of a workspace of the articulated arm associated with a current base configuration of the base of the robot. The operations also include receiving a task request defining a task for the robot to perform outside of the workspace of the articulated arm at the first location. The operations also include generating base parameters associated with the task request. The operations further include instructing, using the generated base parameters, the base of the robot to move from the current base configuration to an anticipatory base configuration.

  • Publication number: 20130290019
Abstract: A system populates a medical imaging examination report of a patient with generated text. An interface receives a patient identifier and data identifying characteristics of a medical imaging examination. At least one repository stores information derived using the patient identifier and the data identifying characteristics of the medical imaging examination. The information associates patient medical history data including, a patient diagnosis and a patient prior medical condition with medical imaging examination type and image acquisition characteristics including anatomical region imaged. A report processor uses the information in automatically selecting a text phrase from multiple predetermined text phrases. The report processor automatically populates the selected text phrase into a medical imaging examination report and prompts user data entry.

  • Publication number: 20100166533
Abstract: This invention relates to a system for efficiently transporting large quantities of initially loose pieces of irregularly shaped scrap sheet metal by temporarily compressing batches of such pieces together into unitary slabs and then forming stacks of numerous slabs, arranged in closely fitted rows within open-top railroad cars or truck trailers. Each slab is formed by ramming a batch of pieces against a vertical plate so that the slab is generally vertically arranged. The slab is then allowed to gravity-fall upon a downwardly tilted table. A second slab is formed and similarly allowed to fall on the table in end-to-end contact with the first slab. The table is then tilted into a horizontal position. A horizontal magnet is positioned to overlap and engage both slabs simultaneously. The magnet is supported by a crane which lifts and moves the magnet over the open-top railroad car or truck and deposits the pair of slabs into an adjacent pair of stacks.

  • Publication number: 20080156205
Abstract: A method for transporting large quantities of convoluted, multiply bent, irregularly shaped, pieces of scrap metal from the location where they are produced to a remote location where the metal may be recycled, comprises flattening and temporarily binding together a batch of such pieces into an assembled wafer. The binding is produced by applying a compressive force of sufficient intensity to temporarily interconnect the pieces together but of insufficient intensity to interconnect the piece tightly enough to resist disassembly of the wafer upon impacting the assembled wafer. After the formation of a wafer comprising the interconnected numerous pieces, the wafer is transported to a remote site for recycling the metal. At such remote site, the wafer is disassembled into its constituent pieces by applying an impact to the wafer of sufficient intensity to cause the disengagement of the pieces for disassembling the wafer.

  • Publication number: 20070207140
Abstract: KCC2, KCC3, and KCC4 potassium-chloride cotransporter proteins, and nucleic acid molecules encoding the same. Recombinant host cells, recombinant nucleic acids and recombinant proteins are also disclosed, along with methods of producing each. Isolated and purified antibodies to KCC2, KCC3, and KCC4 homologs, and methods of producing the same, are also disclosed. KCC2, KCC3, and KCC4 gene products have biological activity in potassium-chloride cotransport. Thus, therapeutic methods involving this activity are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6923033
Abstract: A roller system for flattening irregularly shaped pieces of scrap sheet metal comprises a pair of parallel, horizontally arranged large rollers forming a downwardly converging nip between them. Each roller is formed of curved steel sheets bent to form a cylindrical shape for the rollers. A series of curved, steel liner plates overlay and cover the surfaces of the cylinders. The plates are made of a harder material than the steel sheets. The liner plates on each cylinder are arranged end-to-end and are mechanically fastened to their respective rollers so that the opposite ends of the plates provide a leading edge and a trailing edge. The trailing edge of each plate is chamfered and is arranged against a generally radially directed, blunt edge surface of the leading end of the next plate to form a roughly triangularly shaped in cross-section groove extending longitudinally of the exterior surface of the rollers.

  • Patent number: 4121390
Abstract: A manhole or a catch basin is built up by stacking a number of pre-cast concrete units. The joints between the units are provided, prior to stacking, with a bead of a non-hardening, semi-liquid, mastic waterproof layer to enable subsequent removal of the units without damaging same. The pre-cast concrete unit of this invention is typical by having cutouts in the side wall and corresponding protrusions extending from one face thereof. Hand or tool receiving depressions are provided in one surface of the unit to facilitate the handling of the unit when increasing or reducing the overall height of a manhole. The shape of the unit not only facilitates the production of same but also assists in convenient handling. Due to generally smooth faces, the steaming-off of the waterproof layer prior to the storage of a removed unit is also facilitated.
