Abstract: The compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## where A is a dye radical, where relevant the radicals Y independently of one another are each oxygen, sulfur, R.sup.1 --N or a direct bond, n is 1 or 2, the radicals R.sup.1 independently of one another are each hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and Z is a bridge member, are very useful for dyeing hydroxyl-containing textile material.

Abstract: A compound of the formula I ##STR1## where A is nitro, amino, halocarbonyl or halosulfonyl, R is hydrogen, halogen, nitro, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkanoylamino, hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy phenoxy which is unsubstituted by methyl or chloro, mercapto, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, phenylthio which is unsubstituted or substituted by ethyl, fluoro, or methoxy, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by isopropyl, bromo, or methoxy, carbamoyl, hydroxysulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by ethyl, chloro, or isopropoxy, sulfamoyl or trifluoromethyl or is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl which may be substituted by hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or halogen, and X and Y are each, independently of one another, halogen, hydroxysulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.

Abstract: Fatty acid esters of ascorbic acid are prepared by a process in which a homogeneous mixture of(a) ascorbic acid,(c) concentrated sulfuric acid having a concentration of not less than 96% and(c) a methyl or ethyl ester of a fatty acid of 12 to 18 carbon atomsis reacted at from 20.degree. to 50.degree. C.Using the novel process, the fatty acid esters of ascorbic acid, in particular ascorbyl palmitate, which are very desirable antioxidants are obtained by a procedure which is technically simpler and hence cheaper than the conventional processes, but in equally good yields.

Abstract: Methyl m-nitrobenzoate is prepared by a process in which an isomer mixture is treated with from 10 to 1000% by weight of water in the presence of from 0.05 to 20% by weight of an emulsifier, the percentages being based on the weight of the isomer mixture,(a) in a first stage at from 55.degree. to 100.degree. C. and a pH from 2 to 8 and then(b) in a second stage at from 10.degree. to 40.degree. C. and a pH of not less than 9.The methyl m-nitrobenzoate obtainable by the process of the invention is a useful starting material for the preparation of dyes and crop protection agents.
