  • Patent number: 5070575
Abstract: A sliding door suspension system and a sliding door assembly for supporting a heavy sliding door from a door frame includes a rail horizontally mounted to the door frame. The suspension system includes a roller assembly which rollingly engages the rail and supports the heavy door. The roller assembly includes an axle or shaft having a bearing surface. The axle has at least one threaded end for securing the roller assembly and for attaching the roller assembly to a door hanger from which the heavy door is suspended. The roller assembly further includes a roller with a concentric hollow bore for seating a bearing assembly or bushing through which the axle extends in supportive engagement with the bearing assembly. The rail has a convex arcuate upper roller guide surface. The roller has a concave arcuate roller guide engaging surface which conforms to and engages the upper surface of the rail. The roller assembly also includes a door height and alignment adjusting member which threadably engages the axle.

  • Patent number: 4881766
Abstract: A lock including a housing having an actuator slidably mounted within the housing. A latch bolt and a door-position sensor are mounted within the housing, each extensible and retractable relative to the housing. The actuator has an intermediate position where the latch bolt and sensor are free to move into the housing, a deadlocking position with the actuator shifted in one direction from this intermediate position where the latch bolt is deadlocked in an extended position with the sensor retracted, and another position which produces retraction of the sensor and latch bolt. A pneumatic device powers movement of the actuator toward its other position and a spring biases the actuator toward its deadlocking position.

  • Patent number: 4872286
Abstract: Locking mechanism for locking and unlocking a sliding-type door. The mechanism for the most part is mounted externally of the door, and includes a pivoted, frame-mounted locking member pivotable between locking and unlocking positions. A dead latch latches the locking member in its locking position. An air cylinder is actuated, first to release the dead latch, and then to shift the locking member to its unlocking position. A door-carried locking member also is provided for locking the door at a region remote from the region locked by the frame-mounted locking member.

  • Patent number: 4224599
Abstract: A visual warning apparatus of the type used on police and fire department and other emergency vehicles in which a reflector is positioned relative to a rotating signal light so when the light rotates, light rays deflected off the reflector will extend forwardly of the vehicle while producing a lateral shifting of the light rays. The reflector comprises a plurality of convex sections which produce a highly active light signal.
