    Abstract: A check valve for large conduits having a stationary, rearwardly open hollow valve core mounted inside an enlarged-diameter portion of the housing bore, a matching dish-shaped valve poppet carried by a pivot lever closing the forward end of the valve core in the open valve position in which the valve poppet is spaced a short axial distance from the valve seat, so that a rapid closing action is obtained, as soon as an incipient reverse flow enters the hollow valve core.
