  • Publication number: 20050242932
Abstract: To protect vehicle occupants in dangerous situations, the distance of the vehicle to a roadside object, such as a guardrail, etc., is determined and compared to a critical distance. If the actual distance is less than the critical distance, alarm devices are triggered and/or reversible restraining devices are deployed. The critical distance may be determined as a function of the host vehicle velocity.

  • Publication number: 20050168329
Abstract: An apparatus for triggering a restraint apparatus, arrangement(s) or structure(s) in which, with a precrash sensor system, the apparatus generates a signal as a function of which the restraint apparatus, arrangement(s) or structure(s) is/are triggered. The precrash sensor system includes a combination of an ultrasound sensor system and a microwave sensor system. The ultrasound sensor system serves to detect objects at a speed of up to 40 km/h, while the microwave sensor system is used to detect objects up to a relative speed of 200 km/h.

  • Patent number: 6526806
Abstract: An apparatus for occupant classification in a vehicle, which together with a respective CO2 sensor serves to perform an occupant classification. Both the CO2 content and the profile over time of the signals are used for occupant classification. The CO2 sensors are advantageously arranged in front of the respective persons, making possible a simple measurement. The CO2 sensor can also be used in each case with a further different sensor for occupant classification, and here in particular for plausibility (testing). A processor that evaluates the signals from the CO2 sensors cyclically polls the CO2 sensors. For plausibility, the signals from all CO2 TV sensors present in the passenger compartment can also be taken into account.

  • Publication number: 20020175851
Abstract: A protective device for a person, specifically for a person participating a sport, having at least one sensor device for detecting obstacles in the vicinity of the person to be protected; an evaluation device having a microcontroller for a situation evaluation with respect to the surroundings of the person to be protected; a triggering device for activating a protective application; and a protective application, which can be integrated in the equipment of the person to be protected.
