  • Patent number: 4825858
Abstract: The automatic intubation device described herein consists of an endotracheal tube which can be inserted automatically into the trachea without the use of a laryngoscope or a physician skilled in its use and which will avoid obstruction on the way to the trachea and comprises a combination of: (1) a flexible guide having no more than a slight curvature in the length thereof and having a male adaptor or track running at least a substantial portion of its length and (2) the endotracheal tube to be inserted into the trachea which endotracheal tube may have a substantial amount of curvature therein and also has a slit extending from the advance or distal end of the endotracheal tube, extending longitudinally for a short distance along said tube and designed to fit onto the adaptor of the guide.

  • Patent number: 4793327
Abstract: The device described herein consists of a means inserted in the patient's mouth and adjustable to a fixed position for holding the mouth open while an automatic intubation guide is inserted for guiding an endotracheal tube into the patient's trachea. The airway opening device has an opening therein through which the said guide is fed into the mouth and past the pharynx to the esophagus. An endotracheal tube is also fed through the airway opening device and by means of an adaptor or track on the guide the endotracheal tube is inserted into the trachea, after which the guide is withdrawn and the airway opening device is retracted from its fixed position and removed from the mouth.

  • Patent number: 4672960
Abstract: The automatic intubation device described herein consists of an endotracheal tube which can be inserted automatically into the trachea without the use of a laryngoscope or a physician skilled in its use and which will avoid obstructions on the way to the trachea and comprises a combination of: (1) a flexible guide comprising either a flexible tube or rod having no more than a slight curvature in the length thereof, preferably an esophageal tube, and having a male or female adaptor or track running at least a substantial portion of its length and (2) the endotracheal tube to be inserted into the trachea which endotracheal tube may have a substantial amount of curvature therein and also has a female or male adaptor or track complementary to the adaptor of the guide and designed to fit into or onto the adaptor of the guide.

  • Patent number: 4638512
Abstract: The device described herein comprises a sweatband adapted to collect sweat from the forehead of a runner or other exerciser into a trough and to direct the collected sweat to run out of the collecting trough through draining means positioned so as to let the collected sweat run out at the side of the wearer's head, preferably near his ears. The sweatband preferably has a lip extending upward and inward from the outer side of the trough, or that side not adjacent to the wearer's forehead, whereby any sloshing or overflow of the collected sweat that might be caused by the motion or jarring of the wearer's body will be avoided. In another preferred modification the side of the sweatband which is adapted to be positioned against the wearer's forehead is advantageously made of a wise strip of material to give more firm positioning against the forehead.

  • Patent number: 4626247
Abstract: The device described herein comprises a sweatband adapted to collect sweat from the forehead of a runner or other exerciser and optionally to feed the collected sweat to a tube running down to the runner's mouth so that the salt and water given off in the sweat may be returned to the body. If it is not desired to return the sweat to the runner's mouth, it may be allowed to run off away from the runner's face. The sweatband has one or more grooved strips which have the open portion of the groove (or grooves) facing upward or toward the runner's forehead and adapted to collect sweat running down the forehead. The grooves may feed into a tube or groove which runs downward to a mouthpiece to be inserted into the runner's mouth and the sweat fed into the runner's mouth through an opening in the mouthpiece. The tube may have openings therein or actually comprise a groove slanted forward and downward on the face so that facial sweat may also be collected.
