  • Patent number: 4403477
Abstract: Apparatus for preventing a blowout of a constant pressure air storage installation of a gas turbine power station is disclosed. The apparatus includes a subterranean air storage cavity, a water basin which is substantially at ground level, and a standpipe which connects the water basin to the subterranean cavity. At least an upper portion of the standpipe is arranged obliquely with respect to the horizontal. The apparatus also includes at least one ventilation pipe which is connected to, and in fluid communication with, the upper portion of the standpipe. An upper end of the at least one ventilation pipe is arranged above the water level of the water basin.

  • Patent number: 4392354
Abstract: A constant pressure air storage supply for gas turbine power plants which comprises a cavern and a water supply. In order to prevent the blowing-out of the cavern water through the riser tube there is provided within such riser tube a servomotor-operated regulation valve. This valve, upon occurrence of a certain pressure drop within the cavern, which signals the blow-out danger, is controlled by a pulse transmitter and throttles to the requisite degree the outflow from the cavern.

  • Patent number: 4355923
Abstract: A constant pressure air storage installation for gas turbine power plants containing a cavern and a water supply. In order to reduce the turbulence formation within the water and thus the diffusion of air into the water of the water supply there are provided means which serve to uniformly distribute over the cross-section of the cavern the water flow which arises during charging and discharging of the air space of the cavern and to render more uniform the velocity of such water flow.

  • Patent number: 4343569
Abstract: An apparatus for preventing the blowing out of the water supply of constant pressure air storage installations for gas turbine power plants, which is intended to be installed as a preferably prefabricated unit at the upper end of a riser tube or pipe of an air storage cavern. The apparatus contains venting tubes, the lower ends of which are staggered in elevation. Further, there are provided guide elements which, on the one hand, guide part of the water-air mixture flowing out of the riser tube into the vent tubes or pipes and, on the other hand, form an extended flow channel for the remaining water-air mixture which directly flows into a compensation basin.

  • Patent number: 4330997
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for feedwater heating in an industrial steam turbine. Process steam for industrial purposes is extracted from at least one stage of a multistage turbine. An expansion of a portion of process steam is provided to decrease the steam pressure to a lower pressure level than that of the lowest process steam network. The further expanded steam is used for heating the feedwater which consists of recirculated condensate and makeup water. The portion of the process steam is preferably expanded in a further turbine stage connected downstream from the last turbine stage of the multistage turbine from which process steam is extracted. At least one further feedheater with lower pressure is also provided to receive the expanded portion of the steam.
