  • Patent number: 4498085
Abstract: A one-piece array antenna folded dipole radiating element is formed from a wide, thin conductor. This element is suitable for attachment to a microstrip or other feed circuit. The radiation element includes a folded dipole portion, a balanced transmission line portion and may include a balun portion. These various portions are formed by providing an appropriately shaped slot or aperture in the thin conductor.

  • Patent number: 4498007
Abstract: A self-calibrated neutron radiation monitor includes a flux responsive element comprised of intrinsic silicon neutron detectors and self-calibration resistors in a single structure. As the resistance of the flux responsive element increases to the value of successive calibration resistors, known increments of flux have been encountered.

  • Patent number: 4450419
Abstract: A reflection phase shifter includes transmission-type fractional phase shifters and a reflection-type fractional phase shifter. The fractional phase shifters include PIN diodes and transforming sections for transmission line matching. Three fractional phase shifters provide 45-, 90-, and 180-degree delays. The individual fractional phase shifters are selectably "switched in" by the application of bias signals.

  • Patent number: 4443772
Abstract: A microwave group delay equalizer in microstrip form comprises a dielectric substrate having a ground plane on one surface and on the other surface two conductive strips oriented end to end and spaced apart by a narrow gap and connected together by a relatively narrow inductive conductive strip of substantially greater length than the gap between the first two strips. A dielectric layer overlies the adjacent ends of the first two conductor strips. A fourth conductor strip is disposed over the dielectric layer to provide capacitive coupling between the first and second conductors. The fourth conductor is connected to a grounded capacitor by a fifth relatively narrow inductive conductive strip.

  • Patent number: 4378536
Abstract: An attenuator for high-power, low frequency RF signals including two .pi.-section low-pass filters is well matched to the transmission line characteristic impedance. Each of the four loss branches of the attenuator includes a power resistor and a PIN diode. The attenuator is made electronically variable by controlling the dc bias across the PIN diodes, which respond to increased voltage by exhibiting lowered resistance. At any setting of the dc bias, only a fraction of the attenuated RF power is dissipated by the diodes. When the bias voltage is tuned for high attenuation, virtually all of the power is dissipated by the power resistors.

  • Patent number: 4369415
Abstract: A coaxial transmission line power divider structure includes an inner conductor split to form branch legs. The split portions of the inner conductor are arranged to define a hollow interior. An odd mode power dissipation element is disposed within the hollow. A thermally conducting element carries heat from the power dissipation element to the outer conductor.

  • Patent number: 4275366
Abstract: A phase shifter comprises a transmission line having a second terminated transmission line extending therefrom. A single diode is coupled across the second transmission line. The diode is switched between two operating states which changes the effective electrical length of the second transmission line and introduces a phase shift to a signal propagating in the first transmission line.

  • Patent number: 4270104
Abstract: A resonant circuit phase equalizer includes two quarter-wavelength-long strip conductors extending in parallel from adjacent ends of respective input and output strip conductors of a microwave stripline transmission line. A fixed MIS direct-current-blocking and radio-frequency tuning capacitor is connected across the remote ends of the quarter-wave strip conductors. A variable varactor capacitor is connected across the near ends of the quarter-wave strip conductors. A variable direct-current bias voltage is applied through radio frequency choke conductors to the varactor to vary the capacitance thereof and the center frequency tuning of the equalizer.

  • Patent number: 4250475
Abstract: An adjustable passband filter comprises at least one reentrant section in shunt with a transmission line, which section can be electronically switched between different conditions. The reentrant section, when in at least one condition acts, to reduce the band of frequencies passed by the transmission line by increasing the effective capacitance of the filter and when in another condition, operates as an open circuit, whereby the filter exhibits a broader passband.

  • Patent number: 4238745
Abstract: A phase shifter comprises a segment of transmission line and a reentrant transmission path segment. Each phase shift "bit" utilizes only a pair of diodes to switch in a transmission path which provides the desired phase shift. The phase shifter is of relatively small size and is relatively inexpensive.
