Patent number: 7966865Abstract: The invention discloses an improved method and apparatus to statically equalize the span wise and chord wise moments of a detached plurality of radial projections. These detached radial projections are associated with a rotating assembly and constitute the majority of its rotating mass. When installed on the rotating assembly, the balanced radial projections will necessarily produce a center of rotating mass approximately concentric with its axis of rotation, thereby minimizing vibrations associated with its rotation. The method to statically equalize the span wise moments of the radial projections comprises first determining the span wise moment by finding the center of gravity and multiplying the distance from the center of gravity to the plane of attachment of the radial projection to the rotating assembly by its total weight.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2009Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Inventor: Michael Alfred Wilhelm Lenz

Patent number: 5714102Abstract: An enclosure for an electronic device forms a barrier to electro-magnetic radiation. A typical cross-section of the enclosure comprises three parallel layers. The outer and inner surface layers are of a polymeric base material in which is suspended an electrically conductive fill material, giving the surface layers relatively high electrical conductivity. The middle layer is of a polymeric base material, in which is suspended fill material having high magnetic permeability, giving the middle layer relatively high magnetic permeability. In the preferred embodiment, the enclosure is constructed using a co-injection molding process. Nickel-coated graphite (high conductivity) in a polymeric base is injected into a mold from the outer co-injection nozzle, while carbonyl iron powder (high permeability) in a polymeric base is injected into the mold from the inner co-injection nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1995Date of Patent: February 3, 1998Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Edward Allan Highum, Alfred Wilhelm Mueller, Thomas William Nash, Ewald Emil Gottlob Stadler, Scott Marvin Thorvilson

Patent number: 5044878Abstract: Wind power engine having a rotor (1) which is rotatable about a vertical axis and has at least three rotor blades (A, B, C) arranged substantially radially which subdivide the rotor (1) into equisized sectors. To improve the characteristics and the efficiency of the wind power engine the rotor blades (A, B, C) are vertically subdivided into several sub-blades (3, 4, 5) and between the sub-blades (3, 4, 5) vertical gaps (6) are arranged for the passage of air. In cross-section said sub-blades (3, 4, 5) are dish-shaped or trough-shaped, the end regions of the sub-blades being angles or bent oppositely to the direction of rotation of the rotor through about 30.degree..Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1989Date of Patent: September 3, 1991Inventor: Alfred Wilhelm

Patent number: 4243698Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing a pigment coating on a substrate. A hardenable polymer coating is initially provided on the substrate, followed by an excess of hardening agent. This produces a first hardened coating with sufficient hardening agent remaining to harden a second polymer coating, containing suspended pigment, which is deposited on top of the first coating. The polymer is then pyrolyzed, leaving a coating of pigment on the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-G.m.b.H.Inventors: Otto Marzel, Wilhelm Schwedes, Alfred Wilhelm

Patent number: 4243742Abstract: Radiation-sensitive positively acting materials for ultraviolet, electron beam or X-ray lithography based on linear non-crosslinked copolymers of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or derivatives of these acids, which copolymers have side chains of different length. Copolymers are provided comprising three or more monomers and corresponding to the general form of copolymer ABC, in which monomer A represents a compound or several compounds of the formula: ##STR1## monomer B represents a compound of the formula: ##STR2## and monomer C represents a compound of the formula: ##STR3## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 are hydrogen atoms, acrylic or alkyl groups and R.sub.3 are ester or ketone groups.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1978Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-G.m.b.H.Inventors: Jurgen Hersener, Alfred Wilhelm

Patent number: 3942996Abstract: A radiation sensitive recording material contains a layer of a layer-forming substance and incorporated therein an organic halogen compound capable of producing hydrogenhalide when struck by high energy radiation, and a chromogenic arylvinyl pyran or arylvinylthio pyran which changes its color by reaction with hydrolide. The material provides records with high stability.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1973Date of Patent: March 9, 1976Assignee: AGFA-Gevaert AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gunther Arnold, Gabor Paal, Alfred Wilhelm, Kurt Halfar, Hans Peter Vollmer
