Patent number: 10337375Abstract: A suction tube for a urea sensor installed in a urea tank comprises a suction pipe and a cover. The suction pipe has a suction opening and a hole extending through a wall of the suction pipe. The cover is disposed on an outside of the suction pipe and covers the hole. When there is an under-pressure in the suction pipe compared to the urea tank, the cover abuts the suction pipe and seals the hole. When there is an overpressure in the suction pipe compared to the urea tank, the cover deforms and allows an excess urea solution to escape through the hole and flow back into the urea tank.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2017Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignees: WEMA System AS, MEAS FranceInventors: Erling Alfred Woods, Armand Castandet

Publication number: 20070023544Abstract: The present invention relates to a spray kit with a conduit assembly. The invention generally includes a container with an aperture, a hose passing through that aperture, a conduit assembly that resides at least partially in the container, and a spray device. At least a portion of the hose resides in the conduit assembly. In addition, the spray device fluidly communicates with the container via the hose.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2005Publication date: February 1, 2007Inventor: Alfred Woods

Patent number: 5339495Abstract: This invention relates to a coiler using tongue and groove rollers preferably for measuring sliver thickness and guiding sliver emerging from between these rollers, using guide means such as a pair of calender rollers driven for rotation in the same conveying direction.Optionally the sliver between the conveying nip at the tongue and groove rollers and the guide means (when embodied as calender rollers) is severed by intermittent operation of the conveying and guiding nips.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1992Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: Hollingsworth (U.K.) Ltd.Inventors: Walter Haworth, John Whiteley, Alfred Wood, Stephen W. Patent number: 5267388Abstract: A modular cylinder comprises a plurality of, in this case 24, modules each having a tongue to engage a groove of its neighbour and each either having a camming ramp to engage a camming ramp of its neighbour, or a filler rod inserted between adjacent modules at each interface. Where the camming means are provided, (n - 1) of the modules defining an almost complete cylinder and can then be strained in a radially outward direction to provide space for the final module which is placed in position by sliding longitudinally of the gap. Where the filler rods are used, all of the n modules may be loosely assembled in a first operation and the filler rods can be inserted in a second operation to pre-stress the cylinder. First filler rods of undersized type may be installed to hold the array of a module in loosely assembled configuration, and these may then be sequentially replaced by correctly sized larger filler rods.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Hollingsworth U.K. LimitedInventors: John Whiteley, Alfred Wood, Leslie Powdrill, Stephen W. Patent number: 5018248Abstract: A drafting system and autoleveller are arranged such that the "tongue" roller and the "grooved" roller of the sliver sensor ahead of the first drafting rollers serve to measure the thickness of the sliver therebetween, and their output signal is used, subject to a time delay, to vary the draft ratio in the subsequent drafting means. The autoleveller throughput speed is adjustable and the time delay in the draft ratio variation is automatically adjusted in response to the speed selected.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1989Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Assignee: Hollingsworth (U.K.) LimitedInventors: Walter Haworth, Alfred Wood

Patent number: 4811554Abstract: A friction spinning unit employs two rotatable bodies to define the spinning gap, at least one of the bodies being in the form of a cone whose surface moves towards the friction spinning gap from the same side as that from which separated fibres are fed by a fibre feed means. This configuration of the bodies generates a self-conveying action which propels the bundle of fibres axially along the friction spinning gap so that the bundle itself enters twist-blocking means which facilitates the piecing action and dispenses with the need for a seed yarn to be returned to the friction spinning gap to piece up after a yarn break or after shutdown.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1988Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: Hollingsworth (U.K.) Ltd.Inventors: Alfred Wood, Robert Lane

Patent number: 4777791Abstract: The invention provides for the spinning units of a multi-position rotor spinning machine to be driven by a common AC drive motor powered by a static inverter enabling the power supply frequency to the AC motor to be controlled for controlling the rate of acceleration and the operating speed and the rate of deceleration of the AC drive motor. This facilitates a method of mass stopping.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1987Date of Patent: October 18, 1988Assignee: Hollingsworth U.K. Ltd.Inventors: Alfred Wood, John Rothwell

Patent number: 4774805Abstract: The invention provides for the spinning units of a multi-position open-end spinning machine to be driven by a common AC drive motor powered by a static inverter enabling the power supply frequency to the AC motor to be controlled for controlling the rate of acceleration and the operating speed and the rate of deceleration of the AC drive motor. This facilitates a method of mass start-up and mass stopping of a friction spinning machine are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1987Date of Patent: October 4, 1988Assignee: Hollingsworth U.K. Ltd.Inventors: Alfred Wood, John Rothwell

Patent number: 4549037Abstract: A cable connector for metal clad cable including a body portion having a cable receiving opening therethrough. A hollow grounding member extends through the body and attaches to the metal jacket of the cable. The hollow member includes an opening for receiving a conductor surrounding material therein which seals the cable from adverse environmental conditions. Channel means on the hollow member insures passage of the conductor surrounding material therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: October 22, 1985Assignee: Thomas & Betts CorporationInventors: Jaspal S. Bawa, Luis R. Couto, Edward S. Rapacki, Alfred Wood, Walter A. Pobuta, deceased
