  • Patent number: 4349301
Abstract: A carriage support for an electric, power-driven hand tool having a rotating chuck for receiving for rotation such tools as twist drills, disk saws, buffing and sanding disks, routing tools and the like comprising a carriage member which constitutes a primary support and spaced supporting arms thereon between which the housing of the power-driven hand tool can be positioned, one at least of the arms being movable relative to the other to embrace the housing placed therebetween, teeth mounted to the arms adapted to be engaged with the vent openings in the housing to fix the position of the housing relative to the carriage member and means for maintaining the arms in positions of engagement of the teeth with the vent holes.

  • Patent number: 4249308
Abstract: A bolt cutter wherein there are removably replaceable cutter blades supported in cutting relation by pivotally connected jaws and wherein the jaws are structured to transmit the force couple for cutting to the blades at opposite ends and at opposite sides. Pivotal movement of the jaws relative to each other is effected by a cam roll and cam groove interengaged by the lever handles connected to the jaws. The cam groove is structured to enable changing its contour to thereby change the mechanical advantage.

  • Patent number: 4058893
Abstract: A cutter comprising a first rigid elongate bar, a second shorter bar pivotally mounted on the first bar with an end of the longer bar and an end of the shorter bar coinciding for pivotal movement about an axis spaced from the coinciding ends, said coinciding ends embodying opposed cutting edges movable relative to each other for receiving a part for shearing, a lever arm pivotally mounted on the first bar for rotation thereon about a pivot spaced from the pivot connecting the first and second bars and cam elements on the lever arm and at the distal end of the second bar mutually engageable by swinging the lever arm about its pivot to effect relative movement of the opposed cutting edges to first apply a high shearing force at a relatively low speed between the cutting edges at the beginning of the blade movement and thereafter a lower shearing force at a relatively high speed through the remainder of the cutting movement.

  • Patent number: 3971131
Abstract: A pair of straight pattern snips is provided which is designed to be employed for performing a cutting operation on an article. The snips consist of a pair of integral members, one having a left-hand configuration and the other a right-hand configuration. The pair of members are operatively connected together by means of a pivot bolt so as to be capable of pivotal movement relative to each other. Each of the members includes a handle formed at one end thereof and a jaw at the other end thereof. The grips, i.e., ears with which the handles are provided are skewed or rotated from the plane of the handles to provide a more comfortable grip or hold of the snips for the user. The snips are further provided with detachable blades. The latter blades are mounted on the jaws in blade pockets, i.e., recesses formed in the latter jaws for this purpose through the use of conventional fasteners.
