  • Patent number: 10226520
Abstract: Certain embodiments are directed to compositions comprising EHEC-specific antigens. In certain aspects EHEC O157:H7-specific antigen(s) are used as components of immunogenic compositions and vaccines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 2017
Date of Patent: March 12, 2019
Assignee: THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXA SYSTEM
    Inventor: Alfredo G. Torres
  • Patent number: 10213503
Abstract: Herein we describe construction of a select agent-excluded B. mallei ?tonB ?hcp1 (CLH001) vaccine strain and demonstrate its ability to protect against acute respiratory glanders. Particularly, CLH001 is shown to be attenuated, safe, and effective at protecting against lethal B. mallei challenge. This strain should be useful in vaccines are for use in humans and animals, e.g., equines, in treating or providing immunoprotection against infections elicited by category B, tier 1 pathogens, in particular Burkholderia mallei (Bm) and B. pseudomallei, the causative agents of human glanders and melioidosis, respectively.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 2017
Date of Patent: February 26, 2019
Assignee: THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SYSTEM

  • Patent number: 9267947
Abstract: The present invention provides a protein or a fragment or a variant of said protein, wherein the protein, fragment, or variant is capable of producing a protective immune response in an animal, wherein the immune response is protective against infection by Burkholderia species. Also provided is a method of preventing or treating infection in an animal caused by Burkholderia species which comprises administering an effective amount of the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention to the animal infected with Burkholderia species.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20120082989
Abstract: Provided are methods for identifying lpf genes in pathogenic serotypes of the Enterobacteriaceae family and for differentiating Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 strains in an isolate using primer pairs specific to lpf gene variants, particularly IpfA1 and/or lpfA 2 genes and amplicon size of the PCR product to identify prototypic Enterobacteriaceae serotypes or more specifically, to differentiate strains of E. coli serotype O157:1-17. Differentiation further requires identifying the E. coli isolate's eae gene variant type which in combination with the IpfA1 and/or lpfA2 variant identification provides unique markers. Also provided are the primer pairs and a kit comprising the same.
