  • Publication number: 20060248236
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a hard disk drive system is configured with logic that time correlates grown defects. The hard disk drive system time correlates grown defects by associating each occurrence of a grown defect with a time stamp. When the hard disk drive system receives a read defect data command sent by the host processor, the hard disk drive system returns time correlated grown defect information to the host processor. The host processor preferably executes a software program that processes the time correlated grown defect information to determine any changes in the number of grown defects that are occurring as a function of time.

  • Publication number: 20060114811
Abstract: In a communication system comprising first and second nodes, a multilevel amplitude modulated signaling technique is utilized. The first and second nodes may communicate over a Fibre Channel link or other medium. The first and second nodes comprise respective transmitter and receiver pairs, with the transmitter of the first node configured for communication with the receiver of the second node and the receiver of the first node configured for communication with the transmitter of the second node. The first node is configured to generate a signal for transmission over a serial data channel to the second node, the signal having a multilevel amplitude modulated format in which, within a given clock cycle of the signal, multiple bits are represented by a given signal level.

  • Publication number: 20060067387
Abstract: In a communication system comprising first and second nodes, a transmit adaptive equalization technique is implemented utilizing ordered sets. The first node is operative to receive from the second node information specifying an adjustment to one or more equalization parameters of the first node. The information is received in designated portions of one or more ordered sets transmitted from the second node to the first node in conjunction with initialization of a communication link between the first and second nodes. The first node adjusts the equalization parameter(s) in accordance with the received information.

The first and second nodes comprise respective transmitter and receiver pairs, with the transmitter of the first node configured for communication with the receiver of the second node and the receiver of the first node configured for communication with the transmitter of the second node. The first node receiver is operative to receive from the second node transmitter, responsive to a signal transmitted by the first node transmitter to the second node receiver, information specifying an adjustment to one or more equalization parameters of the first node transmitter. The first node adjusts the equalization parameter(s) in accordance with the received information.

  • Publication number: 20050165786
Abstract: Systems, methods, and data structures are provided for identifying host information at a physical layer of an information handling system. The method includes issuing a command from a host computer and sending a host information command to a device. The command may be issued in a first transport protocol. The host information command may include a host identifier identifying the host that issued the command and a tag identifying a reissued command, the reissued command including the command reissued in a second transport protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050124226
Abstract: An information handling system includes a chassis body for storing information handling system components. The chassis body has one or more D-style connectors that have a trapezoidal connector body. A connector guide is installed proximate the one or more D-style connectors and facilitates the proper orientation and alignment of a mating connector during installation.

  • Patent number: 6793099
Abstract: A supply system for providing water from a bottled water cooler includes a pump which pumps water from an upright bottle of water. A pressure sensor turns the pump off when the bottle of water is empty. A prime pump control starts the pump to initiate the flow of water from a new bottle of water.
