    Abstract: A method includes drilling a wellbore into a subsurface using a drill bit and, for each of a plurality of depths of the drill bit in the wellbore, detecting, at each of a plurality of receiver stations located along a fiber optic cable disposed behind a casing string within the wellbore, a seismic signal created by the drill bit drilling the wellbore, sending an optical signal generated by the detection of the seismic signal from each of the plurality of receiver stations to an interrogator, sorting, using a computer processor, the optical signals by receiver station, and determining, using the computer processor, a seismic velocity using first breaks picked from the sorted optical signals.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed. The method includes obtaining a first seismic dataset generated by a passive seismic source at a first epoch for an inter-wellbore region of interest lying between a first wellbore and a second wellbore. The first seismic dataset includes a first plurality of seismic traces recorded by a first optical fiber in the first wellbore and a second plurality of seismic traces recorded by a second optical fiber in the second wellbore. The method further includes determining a first virtual seismic dataset by applying seismic interferometry to the first seismic dataset. The method still further includes determining a first seismic velocity model for the inter-wellbore region of interest by applying seismic inversion to the first virtual seismic dataset.

The method comprises deploying at least one distributed acoustic fiber optic cable vertically in the at least one uphole, at least a portion of the fiber optic cable being positioned at a depth exceeding a predetermined depth below the surface, receiving seismic data at recording station positioned on the at least one fiber optic cable at at least the predetermined depth, generating, at a processor a high SNR seismic while-drilling signal; yielding a reliable velocity profile from the seismic data received, and determining a presence of near surface hazards from the generated high SNR while drilling seismic data.

    Abstract: A system and a method for generating a subterranean map with ground penetrating radar are described. The system includes multiple ground penetrating radar transmitters, multiple ground penetrating radar receivers, and a controller. A first subset of the transmitters radiate a first signal at a first frequency bandwidth, a second subset of the transmitters radiate a second signal at a second frequency bandwidth different than the first frequency bandwidth, and a third subset of the transmitters radiate a third signal at a third frequency bandwidth different than the first and second frequency bandwidths. The receivers receive a first return signal at the first frequency bandwidth, a second return signal at the second frequency bandwidth, and a third return signal at the third frequency bandwidth and transmit the return signals. The controller operates the ground penetrating radar transmitters, receives the return signals, and generates a subterranean map from the return signals.
