  • Publication number: 20080224428
Abstract: A vehicle suspension includes a plurality of pneumatic suspension elements with each pneumatic suspension element being associated with one pneumatic control valve. A common manifold is fluidly connected to each of the pneumatic control valves. The manifold includes a supply valve that is connected to an air supply, an exhaust valve, and a single pressure sensor. The single pressure sensor is used to measure a pressure level at each of the pneumatic suspension elements. A controller cooperates with the manifold to individually adjust pressure levels of each of the pneumatic suspension elements based on the individually sensed pressure levels. The controller can use the sensed pressure levels to adjust suspension ride height, identify system leaks and isolate defective suspension elements, identify uneven pressure distribution, and to determine a load supported on the pneumatic suspension elements.

  • Patent number: 6347541
Abstract: A method of calibrating an acceleration sensor by utilizing a two point analysis involves positioning the acceleration sensor at a first angle, measuring a first output voltage and positioning the sensor at a second angle and measuring a second output voltage and thereafter calculating a sensitivity ratio and a zero position output voltage based on the angles and voltages. Further, the method of the present invention optionally includes a second calibration after the acceleration sensor is installed onto a vehicle. Thus, the present invention improves accuracy in determining actual vehicle acceleration.

  • Patent number: 6167354
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring the operation of vehicle brakes on a vehicle equipped with an electronic braking system as is commonly used to provide traction control (TC) and/or an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The speed at which a first wheel located on a first side of a vehicle rotates in relation to the speed at which a second wheel located on a second side of the vehicle rotates during particular braking events is examined. For each wheel, any difference or "error" in the rotation speed during the select braking events relative to the other side wheel is accumulated or integrated over a select duration until a threshold difference value is reached which indicates a malfunction at the subject wheel end. The accumulated difference is periodically adjusted to account for normal or acceptable levels of wheel speed variation.
