Abstract: A pipe of layers of thermoplastic polyolefins of the same type, however with different properties, which are connected inseparably with one another, an outer first layer and a second layer, adjoining the first layer on the inside, consisting of a material, which has not been cross-linked, the second layer approximately having the FNCT the value or the NPT value of a one-layer standard pressure pipe and the first layer having an FNCT or NPT value, which is higher by a factor of at least 3 than that of the second value. Moreover, a third layer is provided, which adjoins the second layer on the inside, also consists of material that is not cross-linked and has a PNCT, which is higher by a factor of at least 3 than that of the second layer and an NPT layer, which is higher by a factor of at least 2 than that of the second layer.

Abstract: A waste pipe system of an injection moulded or extruded pipe part of thermoplastic material with soundproofing properties having a weight per unit area of at least 8 kg/m.sup.2. The weight per unit area is adjusted by incorporating a filler in the plastic, preferably barium sulphate is used as such a filler. The density of the plastic pipe part is comprised between 1.8 and 2.7, preferably between 1.8 and 2.0 g/cm.sup.3.Suitable thermoplastic materials are PVC, polyolefins and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) copolymer, particularly PVC or polypropylene.The plastic pipe part may also be a socket or a double sided socket.

Abstract: A pipe member having at one end a socket for the insertion of a further pipe member and a corrugation in the wall of the socket containing a packing ring of resiliently deformable material, and a retaining ring received in an internal recess in the packing ring has its packing ring formed with an outer peripheral portion to fit the contour of the corrugation and annular front and rear projections situated respectively axially in front of and to the rear of the retaining ring to co-operate with the inserted pipe member to form pressure shoulders between which the retaining ring is disposed in the central region of the packing ring, the pressure shoulders transmitting compressive forces to the outer peripheral portion of the packing ring, the outer peripheral portion of the packing ring extending over the two pressure shoulders and over the retaining ring to bear against the corrugation under compressive load.
